[उत्तर] अद्याहम अनुगच्छेयं दृढधन्वा गवां पदम यदि मे सारथिः कश चिद भवेद अश्वेषु कॊविदः ।। ४-३४-१ ।।
'Uttara said: "Skilled as I am in the use of the bow, I would set out today itself in pursuit of the kine, if only I had a charioteer well-versed in managing horses."' ।। 4-34-1 ।।
'But I know not a man who could serve as my charioteer. Seek out, without delay, someone who can take the reins, for I am ready to depart.' ।। 4-34-2 ।।
अष्टाविंशति रात्रं वा मासं वा नूनम अन्ततः यत तद आसी महद युद्धं तत्र मे सारथिर हतः ।। ४-३४-३ ।।
'Alas, my own charioteer was slain in that fierce war which raged day after day for a full month — or at the very least, for eight and twenty nights.' ।। 4-34-3 ।।
'Penetrating the heart of the hostile army, teeming with elephants, horses, and chariots, I will recover the kine, having overwhelmed the Kurus, feeble in strength and weak in arms.' ।। 4-34-5 ।।
