समयं समयज्ञास ते पालयन्तः शुचिव्रताः नावसीदितुम अर्हन्ति उद्वहन्तः सतां धुरम ।। ४-२७-६ ।।

sanskrit

'Mindful of the right time for action, faithful to their promise of exile, pure in conduct, devoted to the duties of the Kshatriya order, and constantly obedient to Kesava—those high-souled and mighty heroes, bearing the burden of wisdom, shall never succumb to misfortune.' ।। 4-27-6 ।।

english translation

samayaM samayajJAsa te pAlayantaH zucivratAH nAvasIdituma arhanti udvahantaH satAM dhurama || 4-27-6 ||

धर्मतश चैव गुप्तास ते सववीर्येण च पाण्डवाः न नाशम अधिगच्छेयुर इति मे धीयते मतिः ।। ४-२७-७ ।।

sanskrit

'Supported by their own inherent strength, the sons of Pandu, who are now living in concealment out of adherence to righteousness, will surely not perish—this is the firm conviction of my mind.' ।। 4-27-7 ।।

english translation

dharmataza caiva guptAsa te savavIryeNa ca pANDavAH na nAzama adhigaccheyura iti me dhIyate matiH || 4-27-7 ||

तत्र बुद्धिं परणेष्यामि पाण्डवान परति भारत न तु नीतिः सुनीतस्य शक्यते ऽनवेषितुं परैः ।। ४-२७-८ ।।

sanskrit

'Therefore, O Bharata, our conduct towards them must be guided by honest and prudent counsel. It would not be wise or appropriate to attempt their discovery now through spies' ।। 4-27-8 ।।

tatra buddhiM paraNeSyAmi pANDavAna parati bhArata na tu nItiH sunItasya zakyate 'naveSituM paraiH || 4-27-8 ||

यत तु शक्यम इहास्माभिस तान वै संचिन्त्य पाण्डवान बुद्ध्या परवक्तुं न दरॊहात परवक्ष्यामि निबॊध तत ।। ४-२७-९ ।।

sanskrit

'What course of action should be taken with regard to the sons of Pandu, I shall declare after careful reflection, guided by reason and discernment. Know that I shall say nothing from ill will to thee.' ।। 4-27-9 ।।

english translation

yata tu zakyama ihAsmAbhisa tAna vai saMcintya pANDavAna buddhyA paravaktuM na daròhAta paravakSyAmi nibòdha tata || 4-27-9 ||

सा तव इयं साधु वक्तव्या न तव अनीतः कथं चन वृद्धानुशासने तात तिष्ठतः सत्यशीलिनः ।। ४-२७-१० ।।

sanskrit

'He, O child, who is devoted to truth and obedient to the elders—he who is wise—must always speak the truth when addressing an assembly, if his aim is truly the pursuit of virtue.' ।। 4-27-10 ।।

sA tava iyaM sAdhu vaktavyA na tava anItaH kathaM cana vRddhAnuzAsane tAta tiSThataH satyazIlinaH || 4-27-10 ||
