एवं संपादयन्तस ते तथान्यॊन्यं महारथाः परेक्षमाणास तदा कृष्णाम ऊषुश छन्ना नराधिप ॥ ४-१२-११ ॥
'And those lords of men, the sons of Pandu, remained hidden, ever watchful of their wife Draupadi, and cautious of danger from the son of Dhritarashtra.' ॥ 4-12-11 ॥
english translation
evaM saMpAdayantasa te tathAnyònyaM mahArathAH parekSamANAsa tadA kRSNAma USuza channA narAdhipa ॥ 4-12-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ मासे चतुर्थे तु बरह्मणः सुमहॊत्सवः आसीत समृद्धॊ मत्स्येषु पुरुषाणां सुसंमतः ॥ ४-१२-१२ ॥
'And when three months had passed, the grand festival in honour of the divine Brahma was celebrated with great pomp in the land of the Matsyas during the fourth month.' ॥ 4-12-12 ॥

atha mAse caturthe tu barahmaNaH sumahòtsavaH AsIta samRddhò matsyeSu puruSANAM susaMmataH ॥ 4-12-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र मल्लाः समापेतुर दिग्भ्यॊ राजन सहस्रशः महाकाया महावीर्याः कालखञ्जा इवासुराः ॥ ४-१२-१३ ॥
'And from every direction, athletes came by the thousands—mighty of limb and great in strength—like the Kalakhanja demons of old.' ॥ 4-12-13 ॥

tatra mallAH samApetura digbhyò rAjana sahasrazaH mahAkAyA mahAvIryAH kAlakhaJjA ivAsurAH ॥ 4-12-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवीर्यॊन्नद्धा बलॊदग्रा राज्ञा समभिपूजिताः सिन्ह सकन्धकटि गरीवाः सववदाता मनस्विनः असकृल लब्धलक्षास ते रङ्गे पार्थिव संनिधौ ॥ ४-१२-१४ ॥
'Elated by their own prowess and proud of their strength, they were honoured with great respect by the king, as celestials are honoured in the realms of Brahma or Shiva during a festival.' ॥ 4-12-14 ॥

vIryònnaddhA balòdagrA rAjJA samabhipUjitAH sinha sakandhakaTi garIvAH savavadAtA manasvinaH asakRla labdhalakSAsa te raGge pArthiva saMnidhau ॥ 4-12-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषाम एकॊ महान आसीत सर्वमल्लान समाह्वयत आवल्गमानं तं रङ्गे नॊपतिष्ठति कश चन ॥ ४-१२-१५ ॥
'Many among them had repeatedly triumphed in the arena in the presence of kings. Yet among them was one towering figure who challenged every wrestler to combat. Proudly striding across the arena, he stood unopposed—for none dared to face him.' ॥ 4-12-15 ॥
