नरपतिदेशविनाशे केतोरुदये अथ वा ग्रहे अर्केन्द्वोः । उत्पातानां प्रभवः स्वऋतुभवश्चाप्यदोषाय ॥ ४६-८१ ॥
The eighteen Mahāśānti ceremonies (great ceremonies of expiation) prescribed in the Atharva Veda must be performed. Bali (food) shall also be offered in honour of Indra and Indrāṇī (Indra’s queen) who shall also be worshipped in every month.
english translation
ये च न दोषान्जनयन्त्युत्पातास्तानृतुस्वभावकृतान् । ऋषिपुत्रकृतैः श्लोकैर्विद्यादेतैः समासौक्तैः ॥ ४६-८२ ॥
If after the occurrence of a portentous phenomenon, either the king should die or the country should suffer miseries, or if a comet should appear, or a solar or lunar eclipse should occur, or if the phenomenon is one due to the particular season, the evils described for such phenomenon would not come to pass.
english translation
वज्राशनिमहीकम्पसन्ध्यानिर्घातनिःस्वनाः । परिवेषरजोधूमरक्तार्क अस्तमय उदयाः ॥ ४६-८३ ॥
What phenomena are not portents (utpāta) but are due to the particular seasons are briefly stated by the sons of Ṛṣis (in the following 12 stanzas.)

द्रुमेभ्यो अन्नरसस्नेहबहुपुष्पफलौद्गमाः । गोपक्षिमदवृद्धिश्च शिवाय मधुमाधवे ॥ ४६-८४ ॥
From the trees come food, taste, oil, many flowers and fruits. O Lord Śiva, please increase the intoxication of cows and birds.
english translation
ताराउल्कापातकलुषं कपिलार्केन्दुमण्डलम् । अनग्निज्वलनस्फोटधूमरेण्वनिलऽहतम् ॥ ४६-८५ ॥
The orb of the sun and moon is polluted by the fall of stars and meteors. It was not fire, flame, explosion, smoke, dust or wind.
