मदोऽत्र दोषैः सर्वैश्च रक्तमद्यविषैरपि । सक्तानल्पद्रुताभाषश्चलः स्खलितचेष्टितः ॥ २६ ॥

Mada Nidana (diagnosis of intoxication): Mada (intoxication) arises from the Doshas separately and from all of them together; by the blood, wine and poisons. Symptoms of different kinds of Mada (intoxication): In intoxication of Vata origin, the speech becomes obstructed, decreased, or too fast, non-syllabic, and unsteady;

रूक्षश्यावारुणतनुर्मदे वातोद्भवे भवेत् । पित्तेन क्रोधनो रक्तपीताभः कलहप्रियः ॥ २७ ॥

the person's movements and activities are staggered or hindered in the middle, and the body becomes dry and blackish-red (shvava-aruna). In intoxication of Pitta origin, the person is quick to anger, the body takes on a reddish-yellow complexion, and they become highly argumentative and fond of quarreling.

स्वल्पसम्बद्धवाक् पाण्डुः कफाद्ध्यानपरोऽलसः । सर्वात्मा सन्निपातेन रक्तात्स्तब्धाङ्गदृष्टिता ॥ २८ ॥

In intoxication of Kapha origin, the person speaks very little and with a mingling or slurring of words; the body becomes pale/yellowish-white (pandu), and they are found constantly worrying (brooding) and lazy (unenthusiastic). In that caused by all three Doshas (Sannipata), all the symptoms will be found simultaneously. In intoxication due to blood (Rakta), the body becomes stiff, the gaze gets fixed, and other symptoms of Pitta are present.

In intoxication due to poison (Visha), there will be severe tremors and excessive sleep (coma-like drowsiness); this type of intoxication is far more potent and powerful than all the others. In these various kinds of intoxication (such as those from blood, wine, etc.)
