तत्र शुष्कपूतिव्याधिविषसर्पहतदिग्धविद्धजीर्णकृशबालानामसात्म्यचारिणां च मांसान्यभक्ष्याणि, यस्माद्विगतव्यापन्नापहतपरिणताल्पासम्पूर्णवीर्यत्वाद्दोषकराणि [४५] भवन्ति; एभ्योऽन्येषामुपादेयं मांसमिति ॥१२६॥

Among these, meats that should not be consumed include those from animals that are dry, putrid, afflicted by disease, poisoned, bitten by snakes, and those that are old, emaciated, or young. This is because such meats are harmful due to their diminished potency and potential to aggravate doshas. Meats from other animals are to be accepted.

इनमें से शुष्क, पुराना, रोगग्रस्त, विषाक्त, साँप के द्वारा काटा गया, जीर्ण, कृश या बालकों के मांस को ग्रहण नहीं करना चाहिए। इसका कारण यह है कि ये मांस दोषकारी होते हैं क्योंकि इनमें वीर्य की कमी होती है और ये दोषों को बढ़ाते हैं। अन्य जानवरों के मांस को ग्रहण करना उचित है।

अरोचकं प्रतिश्यायं गुरु शुष्कं प्रकीर्तितम् । विषव्याधिहतं मृत्युं बालं छर्दिं च कोपयेत् ॥१२७॥

Meat that is tasteless, causes cough, is dry, and is known to be afflicted by poison or disease, is harmful. It can provoke symptoms like nausea, cough, and even death, particularly if it is from an immature or vomiting animal.

जो मांस स्वादहीन, खाँसी उत्पन्न करने वाला, सूखा और विष या रोग से ग्रस्त हो, वह हानिकारक होता है। ऐसा मांस उल्टी, खाँसी और यहाँ तक कि मृत्यु को भी उत्तेजित कर सकता है, विशेषकर यदि वह अपरिपक्व या उल्टी करने वाले जानवर से हो।

कासश्वासकरं वृद्धं त्रिदोषं व्याधिदूषितम् । क्लिन्नमुत्क्लेशजननं कृशं वातप्रकोपणम् ॥१२८॥

Meat that is causing cough and breathlessness, is old, contaminated with all three doshas, moist, and generates vomiting, is thin and aggravates vata, should be avoided.

जो मांस खाँसी और श्वासजनित हो, वृद्ध, त्रिदोष दूषित, भीगा हुआ, उल्टी उत्पन्न करने वाला, कृश और वात को उत्तेजित करने वाला हो, उसे त्यागना चाहिए।

स्त्रियश्चतुष्पात्सु, पुमांसो विहङ्गेषु, महाशरीरेष्वल्पशरीराः, अल्पशरीरेषु महाशरीराः, प्रधानतमाः; एवमेकजातीयानां महाशरीरेभ्यः कृशशरीराःप्रधानतमाः ॥१२९॥

Among women, the four-legged animals are considered the best, while among men, birds are preferred. For large bodies, those with smaller bodies are predominant, and for small bodies, those with larger bodies are considered superior. Similarly, among creatures of the same species, those with smaller bodies are preferred in large bodies, and those with larger bodies are preferred in small bodies.

स्त्रियों में चतुर्दंतधारी पशु प्रधान माने जाते हैं, जबकि पुरुषों में पक्षी श्रेष्ठ होते हैं। बड़े शरीर वाले प्राणियों में छोटे शरीर वाले प्राणी प्रधान माने जाते हैं, और छोटे शरीर वाले प्राणियों में बड़े शरीर वाले प्राणी श्रेष्ठ होते हैं। इसी प्रकार, एक ही जाति के प्राणियों में बड़े शरीर वाले प्राणियों के लिए छोटे शरीर वाले प्राणी और छोटे शरीर वाले प्राणियों के लिए बड़े शरीर वाले प्राणी प्रधान होते हैं।

स्थानादिकृतं मांसस्य गुरुलाघवमुपदेक्ष्यामः । तद्यथा- रक्तादिषु शुक्रान्तेषु धातुषूत्तरोत्तरा गुरुतराः, तथा सक्थिस्कन्धक्रोडशिरःपादकरकटीपृष्ठचर्मकालेयकयकृदन्त्राणि ॥१३०॥

We will describe the characteristics of meat based on its origin. For example, in the case of the meat of blood, and other similar tissues, it is heavier and more substantial in the case of organs like the heart, liver, etc., compared to other parts like bones, joints, limbs, and skin.

स्थानादिकृत मांस की विशेषताएँ इस प्रकार हैं: रक्त आदि अंगों के मांस की तुलना में, धातु वाले अंग जैसे हृदय, यकृत, आदि के मांस का वजन अधिक और गुण में भारी होता है। वहीं, हड्डियों, जोड़, अंगों, त्वचा आदि की तुलना में यह अधिक भारी होता है।
