Here, the bodily elements such as teeth, hair, nails, and others, which are made up of the dhatus (tissues), as well as food, waste, and doshas (imbalances), can cause discomfort when they become disturbed. Similarly, external factors, apart from the body splinters, can also produce suffering.

The authority of splinters is specifically concerning those made of metal, bamboo, wood, grass, horn, and bone. Among these, metal splinters are particularly significant due to their ability to cause harm and their durability. Metal splinters are generally categorized into two types: pointed (Karnī) and smooth (Shlakṣṇa). Typically, they are described based on their resemblance to various plant parts, fruits, or the shapes of animals and birds.

Consider the characteristics of splinters as described. They are classified into two types: general and specific. General Characteristics: Dark or bluish, causing a raised, tender, and swollen wound with persistent bleeding and formation of bubbles; the wound is characterized by soft flesh. Specific Characteristics: In the Skin: Discoloration, swelling, and hardness with extended swelling. In the Flesh: Increased swelling, following the path of the splinter, pain intolerance, and ulcer formation. In the Blood Vessels: Pulsating pain, swelling, and hardness of veins. In the Nerves: Nerve entrapment, severe pain, and swelling. In the Channels: Impaired function of channels, leading to fluid accumulation. In the Arteries: Pulsating blood, discoloration, and painful swelling with discharge. In the Bones: Varied pain and swelling, with increased pressure and strength of bone. In the Joints: Pain and limited movement. In the Abdomen: Symptoms include colic, dysuria, and digestive issues. In the Vital Points: Similar to the effects of a wound in vital areas. These characteristics become more evident in subtle cases of splinters.
