ततो विषादो देवानामभवत्तं निरीक्ष्य वै । विषादजननत्वाच्च विषमित्यभिधीयते ॥२१॥
Afterward, a sense of sorrow arose among the gods upon seeing this event. Because it gave rise to sorrow, it is referred to as Vishama (meaning something that causes distress or sorrow).

यथाऽव्यक्तरसं तोयमन्तरीक्षान्महीगतम् । तेषु तेषु प्रदेशेषु रसं तं तं नियच्छति ॥२३॥
Just as the unmanifested essence of water pervades the sky and the earth, in the same way, that essence controls and regulates the substance in each region.

जिस प्रकार जल का अव्यक्त सार आकाश और पृथ्वी में व्याप्त है, उसी प्रकार वह सार प्रत्येक क्षेत्र में पदार्थ को नियंत्रित और नियंत्रित करता है।

एवमेव विषं यद्यद्द्रव्यं व्याप्यावतिष्ठते । स्वभावादेव तं तस्य रसं समनुवर्तते ॥२४॥
In the same manner, the poison, when it pervades any substance, remains in it, and by its inherent nature, its essence follows and manifests accordingly.

इसी प्रकार विष भी जब किसी पदार्थ में व्याप्त हो जाता है तो उसी में बना रहता है और अपने अन्तर्निहित स्वभाव के अनुसार ही उसका सार-तत्व उसका अनुसरण करता है और उसी के अनुरूप प्रकट होता है।
