आसिक्तमार्गां गन्धोदैः करिणां मदशीकरैः । स्वामिनं प्राप्तमालोक्य मत्तां वा सुतरामिव ।। ९-११-२६ ।।

sanskrit

During the reign of Lord Rāmacandra, the streets of the capital, Ayodhyā, were sprinkled with perfumed water and drops of perfumed liquor, thrown about by elephants from their trunks. When the citizens saw the Lord personally supervising the affairs of the city in such opulence, they appreciated this opulence very much. ।। 9-11-26 ।।

english translation

भगवान् रामचन्द्र के शासन काल में अयोध्या की सडक़ें सुगन्धित जल से तथा हाथियों द्वारा अपनी सूँडों से फेंके गये सुगन्धित तरल की बूँदों से सींची जाती थीं। जब नागरिकों ने देखा कि भगवान् स्वयं ही इतने वैभव के साथ शहर के मामलों की देखरेख कर रहे हैं तो उन्होंने इस वैभव की भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा की। ।। ९-११-२६ ।।

प्रासादगोपुरसभाचैत्यदेवगृहादिषु । विन्यस्तहेमकलशैः पताकाभिश्च मण्डिताम् ।। ९-११-२७ ।।

sanskrit

The palaces, the palace gates, the assembly houses, the platforms for meeting places, the temples and all such places were decorated with golden waterpots and bedecked with various types of flags. ।। 9-11-27 ।।

english translation

सारे महल, महलों के द्वार, सभाभवन, चबूतरे, मन्दिर तथा अन्य ऐसे स्थान सुनहरे जलपात्रों (कलशों) से सजाये और विभिन्न प्रकार की झंडियों से अलंकृत किये जाते थे। ।। ९-११-२७ ।।

पूगैः सवृन्तै रम्भाभिः पट्टिकाभिः सुवाससाम् । आदर्शैरंशुकैः स्रग्भिः कृतकौतुकतोरणाम् ।। ९-११-२८ ।।

sanskrit

Wherever Lord Rāmacandra visited, auspicious welcome gates were constructed, with banana trees and betel-nut trees, full of flowers and fruits. The gates were decorated with various flags made of colorful cloth and with tapestries, mirrors and garlands. ।। 9-11-28 ।।

english translation

जहाँ कहीं भगवान् रामचन्द्र जाते, वहीं केले के वृक्षों तथा फल-फूलों से युक्त सुपारी के वृक्षों से स्वागत-द्वार बनाये जाते थे। इन द्वारों को रंगबिरंगे वस्त्र से बनी पताकाओं, बन्दनवारों, दर्पणों तथा मालाओं से सजाया जाता था। ।। ९-११-२८ ।।

तमुपेयुस्तत्र तत्र पौरा अर्हणपाणयः । आशिषो युयुजुर्देव पाहीमां प्राक् त्वयोद्धृताम् ।। ९-११-२९ ।।

sanskrit

Wherever Lord Rāmacandra visited, the people approached Him with paraphernalia of worship and begged the Lord’s blessings. “O Lord,” they said, “as You rescued the earth from the bottom of the sea in Your incarnation as a boar, may You now maintain it. Thus we beg Your blessings.” ।। 9-11-29 ।।

english translation

भगवान् रामचन्द्र जहाँ कहीं भी जाते, लोग पूजा की सामग्री लेकर उनके पास पहुँचते और उनके आशीर्वाद की याचना करते। वे कहते, “हे प्रभु, जिस प्रकार आपने अपने सूकर अवतार में समुद्र के नीचे से पृथ्वी का उद्धार किया, उसी तरह अब आप उसका पालन करें। हम आपसे यही आशीष माँगते हैं।” ।। ९-११-२९ ।।

ततः प्रजा वीक्ष्य पतिं चिरागतं दिदृक्षयोत्सृष्टगृहाः स्त्रियो नराः । आरुह्य हर्म्याण्यरविन्दलोचनमतृप्तनेत्राः कुसुमैरवाकिरन् ।। ९-११-३० ।।

Thereafter, not having seen the Lord for a long time, the citizens, both men and women, being very eager to see Him, left their homes and got up on the roofs of the palaces. Being incompletely satiated with seeing the face of the lotus-eyed Lord Rāmacandra, they showered flowers upon Him. ।। 9-11-30 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात्, दीर्घकाल से भगवान् का दर्शन न किये रहने से, नर तथा नारी उन्हें देखने के लिए अत्यधिक उत्सुक होकर अपने-अपने घरों को त्यागकर महलों की छतों पर चढ़ गये। कमलनयन भगवान् रामचन्द्र के मुखमण्डल का दर्शन करके न अघाने के कारण वे उन पर फूलों की वर्षा करने लगे। ।। ९-११-३० ।।
