ब्रह्मबन्धो किमेतत्ते विपक्षं श्रयतासता । असारं ग्राहितो बालो मामनादृत्य दुर्मते ॥ ७-५-२६ ॥
O unqualified, most heinous son of a brāhmaṇa, you have disobeyed my order and taken shelter of the party of my enemies. You have taught this poor boy about devotional service! What is this nonsense? ॥ 7-5- 26॥

अरे ब्राह्मण के अत्यन्त नृशंस (घृणित) अयोग्य पुत्र, तुमने मेरे आदेश की अवज्ञा की है और मेरे शत्रु-पक्ष की शरण ले रखी है। तुमने इस बेचारे बालक को भक्ति का पाठ पढ़ाया है। यह क्या बकवास है? ॥ ७-५-२६ ॥

सन्ति ह्यसाधवो लोके दुर्मैत्राश्छद्मवेषिणः । तेषामुदेत्यघं काले रोगः पातकिनामिव ॥ ७-५-२७ ॥
In due course of time, various types of diseases are manifest in those who are sinful. Similarly, in this world there are many deceptive friends in false garbs, but eventually, because of their false behavior, their actual enmity becomes manifest. ॥ 7-5-27 ॥

समय के साथ, उन लोगों में अनेक प्रकार के रोग प्रकट होते हैं, जो पापी हैं। इसी प्रकार से इस संसार में छद्मवेष धारण किये हुए जितने धोखेबाज मित्र हैं अन्ततोगत्वा उनके मिथ्या आचरण से उनकी वास्तविकता शत्रुता में प्रकट हो जाती है। ॥ ७-५-२७ ॥

गुरुपुत्र उवाच न मत्प्रणीतं न परप्रणीतं सुतो वदत्येष तवेन्द्रशत्रो । नैसर्गिकीयं मतिरस्य राजन् नियच्छ मन्युं कददाः स्म मा नः ॥ ७-५-२८ ॥
The son of Śukrācārya, Hiraṇyakaśipu’s spiritual master, said: O enemy of King Indra, O King! Whatever your son Prahlāda has said was not taught to him by me or anyone else. His spontaneous devotional service has naturally developed in him. Therefore, please give up your anger and do not unnecessarily accuse us. It is not good to insult a brāhmaṇa in this way. ॥ 7-5-28 ॥

हिरण्यकशिपु के गुरु शुक्राचार्य के पुत्र ने कहा : हे इन्द्र के शत्रु, हे राजन्, आपके प्रह्लाद पुत्र ने जो भी कहा है, वह न तो मेरे द्वारा पढ़ाया गया है, न किसी अन्य के द्वारा। उसमें यह भक्ति स्वत: विकसित हुई है। अतएव आप अपना क्रोध त्याग दें और व्यर्थ ही हमें दोषी न ठहराएँ। एक ब्राह्मण को इस प्रकार अपमानित करना अच्छा नहीं है। ॥ ७-५-२८ ॥

नारद उवाच गुरुणैवं प्रतिप्रोक्तो भूय आहासुरः सुतम् । न चेद्गुरुमुखीयं ते कुतोऽभद्रासती मतिः ॥ ७-५-२९ ॥
Śrī Nārada Muni continued: When Hiraṇyakaśipu received this reply from the teacher, he again addressed his son Prahlāda. Hiraṇyakaśipu said: You rascal, most fallen of our family, if you have not received this education from your teachers, where have you gotten it? ॥ 7-5-29 ॥

श्री नारद मुनि ने आगे कहा : जब हिरण्यकशिपु को अध्यापक से यह उत्तर मिल गया तो उसने पुन: अपने पुत्र को सम्बेधित किया। हिरण्यकशिपु ने कहा “रे धूर्त! हमारे परिवार के सबसे पतित! यदि तुमने यह शिक्षा अपने अध्यापकों से नहीं प्राप्त की, तो बतला कि इसे कहाँ से प्राप्त की?” ॥ ७-५-२९ ॥

प्रह्लाद उवाच मतिर्न कृष्णे परतः स्वतो वा मिथोऽभिपद्येत गृहव्रतानाम् । अदान्तगोभिर्विशतां तमिस्रं पुनः पुनश्चर्वितचर्वणानाम् ॥ ७-५-३० ॥
Prahlāda Mahārāja replied: Because of their uncontrolled senses, persons too addicted to materialistic life make progress toward hellish conditions and repeatedly chew that which has already been chewed. Their inclinations toward Kṛṣṇa are never aroused, either by the instructions of others, by their own efforts, or by a combination of both. ॥ 7-5-30 ॥

प्रह्लाद महाराज ने उत्तर दिया: अपनी असंयमित इन्द्रियों के कारण जो लोग भौतिकतावादी जीवन के प्रति अत्यधिक लिप्त रहते हैं, वे नरकगामी होते हैं और बार-बार उसे चबाते हैं, जिसे पहले ही चबाया जा चुका है। ऐसे लोगों का कृष्ण के प्रति झुकाव न तो अन्यों के उपदेशों से, न अपने निजी प्रयासों से, न ही दोनों को मिलाकर कभी होता है। ॥ ७-५-३० ॥
