प्रह्लाद उवाच मतिर्न कृष्णे परतः स्वतो वा मिथोऽभिपद्येत गृहव्रतानाम् । अदान्तगोभिर्विशतां तमिस्रं पुनः पुनश्चर्वितचर्वणानाम् ।। ७-५-३० ।।

Prahlāda Mahārāja replied: Because of their uncontrolled senses, persons too addicted to materialistic life make progress toward hellish conditions and repeatedly chew that which has already been chewed. Their inclinations toward Kṛṣṇa are never aroused, either by the instructions of others, by their own efforts, or by a combination of both. ।। 7-5-30 ।।

english translation

प्रह्लाद महाराज ने उत्तर दिया: अपनी असंयमित इन्द्रियों के कारण जो लोग भौतिकतावादी जीवन के प्रति अत्यधिक लिप्त रहते हैं, वे नरकगामी होते हैं और बार-बार उसे चबाते हैं, जिसे पहले ही चबाया जा चुका है। ऐसे लोगों का कृष्ण के प्रति झुकाव न तो अन्यों के उपदेशों से, न अपने निजी प्रयासों से, न ही दोनों को मिलाकर कभी होता है। ।।‌ ७-५-३० ।।
