प्रह्लाद उवाच स्वः परश्चेत्यसद्ग्राहः पुंसां यन्मायया कृतः । विमोहितधियां दृष्टस्तस्मै भगवते नमः ॥ ७-५-११ ॥
Prahlāda Mahārāja replied: Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose external energy has created the distinctions of “my friend” and “my enemy” by deluding the intelligence of men. Indeed, I am now actually experiencing this, although I have previously heard of it from authoritative sources. ॥ 7-5-11 ॥

प्रह्लाद महाराज ने उत्तर दिया: मैं उन भगवान् को सादर नमस्कार करता हूँ जिनकी माया ने मनुष्यों की बुद्धि को चकमा देकर ‘मेरे मित्र’ तथा ‘मेरे शत्रु’ में अन्तर उत्पन्न किया है। निस्सन्देह, मुझको अब इसका वास्तविक अनुभव हो रहा है, यद्यपि मैंने पहले इसके विषय में प्रामाणिक स्रोतों से सुन रखा है। ॥ ७-५-११ ॥

स यदानुव्रतः पुंसां पशुबुद्धिर्विभिद्यते । अन्य एष तथान्योऽहमिति भेदगतासती ॥ ७-५-१२ ॥
When the Supreme Personality of Godhead is pleased with the living entity because of his devotional service, one becomes a paṇḍita and does not make distinctions between enemies, friends and himself. Intelligently, he then thinks, “Every one of us is an eternal servant of God, and therefore we are not different from one another.” ॥ 7-5-12 ॥

जब भगवान् किसी जीव से उसकी भक्ति के कारण प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं, तो वह पण्डित बन जाता है और वह शत्रु, मित्र तथा अपने में कोई भेद नहीं मानता। तब वह बुद्धिमानी से सोचता है कि हम सभी ईश्वर के नित्य दास हैं, अतएव हम एक दूसरे से भिन्न नहीं हैं। ॥ ७-५-१२ ॥

स एष आत्मा स्वपरेत्यबुद्धिभिर्दुरत्ययानुक्रमणो निरूप्यते । मुह्यन्ति यद्वर्त्मनि वेदवादिनो ब्रह्मादयो ह्येष भिनत्ति मे मतिम् ॥ ७-५-१३ ॥
Persons who always think in terms of “enemy” and “friend” are unable to ascertain the Supersoul within themselves. Not to speak of them, even such exalted persons as Lord Brahmā, who are fully conversant with the Vedic literature, are sometimes bewildered in following the principles of devotional service. The same Supreme Personality of Godhead who has created this situation has certainly given me the intelligence to take the side of your so-called enemy. ॥ 7-5-13 ॥

जो लोग सदैव ‘शत्रु’ तथा ‘मित्र’ के बारे में सोचते हैं, वे अपने भीतर परमात्मा को स्थिर कर पाने में असमर्थ रहते हैं। इनकी जाने दें, ब्रह्मा जैसे बड़े-बड़े पुरुष जो वैदिक साहित्य से पूरी तरह अभिज्ञ हैं कभी-कभी भक्ति के सिद्धान्तों का पालन करते हुए मोहग्रस्त हो जाते हैं। जिस भगवान् ने यह परिस्थिति उत्पन्न की है उसी ने ही मुझे आपके तथाकथित शत्रु का पक्षधर बनने की बुद्धि दी है। ॥ ७-५-१३ ॥

यथा भ्राम्यत्ययो ब्रह्मन् स्वयमाकर्षसन्निधौ । तथा मे भिद्यते चेतश्चक्रपाणेर्यदृच्छया ॥ ७-५-१४ ॥
O brāhmaṇas [teachers], as iron attracted by a magnetic stone moves automatically toward the magnet, my consciousness, having been changed by His will, is attracted by Lord Viṣṇu, who carries a disc in His hand. Thus I have no independence. ॥ 7-5-14 ॥

हे ब्राह्मणों (आध्यापको), जिस प्रकार चुम्बक से आकर्षित लोह स्वत: चुम्बक की ओर जाता है, उसी प्रकार भगवान् विष्णु की इच्छा से बदली हुई मेरी चेतना उन चक्रधारी की ओर आकृष्ट होती है। इस प्रकार मुझे कोई स्वतंत्रता नहीं है। ॥ ७-५-१४ ॥

नारद उवाच एतावद्ब्राह्मणायोक्त्वा विरराम महामतिः । तं निर्भर्त्स्याथ कुपितः सुदीनो राजसेवकः ॥ ७-५-१५ ॥
The great saint Nārada Muni continued: The great soul Prahlāda Mahārāja became silent after saying this to his teachers, Ṣaṇḍa and Amarka, the seminal sons of Śukrācārya. These so-called brāhmaṇas then became angry at him. Because they were servants of Hiraṇyakaśipu, they were very sorry, and to chastise Prahlāda Mahārāja they spoke as follows. ॥ 7-5-15 ॥

श्री नारद महामुनि ने आगे कहा : शुक्राचार्य के पुत्रों अर्थात् अपने शिक्षकों षण्ड तथा अमर्क से यह कहने के बाद महात्मा प्रह्लाद महाराज मौन हो गये। तब ये तथाकथित ब्राह्मण उन पर क्रुद्ध हुए। चूँकि वे हिरण्यकशिपु के दास थे अतएव वे अत्यन्त दुखी थे। वे प्रह्लाद महाराज की भर्त्सना करने के लिए इस प्रकार बोले। ॥ ७-५-१५ ॥
