यदाकल्पः स्वक्रियायां व्याधिभिर्जरयाथवा । आन्वीक्षिक्यां वा विद्यायां कुर्यादनशनादिकम् ॥ ७-१२-२३ ॥
When because of disease or old age one is unable to perform his prescribed duties for advancement in spiritual consciousness or study of the Vedas, he should practice fasting, not taking any food. ॥ 7-12-23 ॥
english translation
जब वह रोग या वृद्धावस्था के कारण आध्यात्मिक चेतना में प्रगति करने या वेदाध्ययन में अपने निमत कार्य करने में असमर्थ हो जाये तब उसे अन्न न खाने के व्रत का अभ्यास करना चाहिए। ॥ ७-१२-२३ ।।
