खल्विदं महदाश्चर्यं यद्रजःप्रकृतेस्तव । वासुदेवे भगवति सत्त्वात्मनि दृढा मतिः ॥ ६-१२-२१ ॥
O Vṛtrāsura, demons are generally conducted by the mode of passion. Therefore, what a great wonder it is that although you are a demon, you have adopted the mentality of a devotee and have fixed your mind on the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vāsudeva, who is always situated in pure goodness. ॥ 6-12-21 ॥

हे वृत्रासुर! असुर सामान्यत: रजोगुणी होते हैं, अत: यह कितना महान् आश्चर्य है। कहा जायेगा कि असुर होकर भी तुमने भक्त-भाव ग्रहण करके अपने मन को पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् वासुदेव में स्थिर कर दिया है, जो सदैव शुद्ध सत्त्व में स्थित रहते हैं। ॥ ६-१२-२१ ॥

यस्य भक्तिर्भगवति हरौ निःश्रेयसेश्वरे । विक्रीडतोऽमृताम्भोधौ किं क्षुद्रैः खातकोदकैः ॥ ६-१२-२२ ॥
A person fixed in the devotional service of the Supreme Lord, Hari, the Lord of the highest auspiciousness, swims in the ocean of nectar. For him what is the use of the water in small ditches? ॥ 6-12-22 ॥

जो मनुष्य परम कल्याणकारी परमेश्वर हरि की भक्ति में स्थिर है, वह अमृत के समुद्र में तैरता है। उसके लिए छोटे-छोटे गड्ढों के जल से क्या प्रयोजन? ॥ ६-१२-२२ ॥

श्रीशुक उवाच इति ब्रुवाणावन्योन्यं धर्मजिज्ञासया नृप । युयुधाते महावीर्याविन्द्रवृत्रौ युधाम्पती ॥ ६-१२-२३ ॥
Śrī Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Vṛtrāsura and King Indra spoke about devotional service even on the battlefield, and then as a matter of duty they again began fighting. My dear King, both of them were great fighters and were equally powerful. ॥ 6-12-23 ॥

श्रीशुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा—वृत्रासुर तथा राजा इन्द्र ने युद्धभूमि में भी भक्तियोग के सम्बन्ध में बातें कीं और अपना कर्तव्य समझकर दोनों पुन: युद्ध में भिड़ गये। हे राजन्! दोनों ही बड़े योद्धा और समान रूप से शक्तिशाली थे। ॥ ६-१२-२३ ।।

आविध्य परिघं वृत्रः कार्ष्णायसमरिन्दमः । इन्द्राय प्राहिणोद्घोरं वामहस्तेन मारिष ॥ ६-१२-२४ ॥
O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, Vṛtrāsura, who was completely able to subdue his enemy, took his iron club, whirled it around, aimed it at Indra and then threw it at him with his left hand. ॥ 6-12-24 ॥

हे महाराज परीक्षित! अपने शत्रु को वश में करने में पूर्ण सक्षम वृत्रासुर ने अपना लोहे का परिघ उठाकर चारों ओर घुमाया और इन्द्र को लक्ष्य बनाकर अपने बाएँ हाथ से उस पर फेंका। ॥ ६-१२-२४ ॥

With his thunderbolt named Śataparvan, Indra simultaneously cut to pieces Vṛtrāsura’s club and his remaining hand. ॥ 6-12-25 ॥

इन्द्र ने अपने शतपर्वन नामक वज्र से वृत्रासुर के परिघ तथा उसके बचे हुए हाथ को एक साथ खण्ड-खण्ड कर डाला। ॥ ६-१२-२५ ॥
