त्वन्माययाद्धा जन ईश खण्डितो यदन्यदाशास्त ऋतात्मनोऽबुधः । यथा चरेद्बालहितं पिता स्वयं तथा त्वमेवार्हसि नः समीहितुम् ।। ४-२०-३१ ।।

sanskrit

My Lord, due to Your illusory energy, all living beings in this material world have forgotten their real constitutional position, and out of ignorance they are always desirous of material happiness in the form of society, friendship and love. Therefore, please do not ask me to take some material benefits from You, but as a father, not waiting for the son’s demand, does everything for the benefit of the son, please bestow upon me whatever You think best for me. ।। 4-20-31 ।।

english translation

हे भगवन्, आपकी माया के कारण इस भौतिक जगत के सभी प्राणी अपनी वास्तविक स्वाभाविक स्थिति भूल गये हैं और वे अज्ञानवश समाज, मित्रता तथा प्रेम के रूप में निरन्तर भौतिक सुख की कामना करते हैं। अत: आप मुझे किसी प्रकार का भौतिक लाभ माँगने के लिए न कहें, बल्कि जिस प्रकार पिता अपने पुत्र द्वारा माँगने की प्रतीक्षा किये बिना उसके कल्याण के लिए सब कुछ करता है, उसी प्रकार से आप भी जो मेरे हित में हो मुझे प्रदान करें। ।। ४-२०-३१ ।।

tvanmAyayAddhA jana Iza khaNDito yadanyadAzAsta RtAtmano'budhaH | yathA caredbAlahitaM pitA svayaM tathA tvamevArhasi naH samIhitum || 4-20-31 ||
