The great sage Maitreya continued: My dear Vidura, being very much satisfied by the performance of ninety-nine horse sacrifices, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Viṣṇu, appeared on the scene. Accompanying Him was King Indra. Lord Viṣṇu then began to speak. ।। 4-20-1 ।।

मैत्रेय ने आगे कहा : हे विदुर, महाराज पृथु द्वारा निन्यानवे अश्वमेध यज्ञों के सम्पन्न किये जाने से भगवान् विष्णु अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हुए और वे यज्ञस्थल में प्रकट हुए। उनके साथ राजा इन्द्र भी था। तब भगवान् विष्णु ने कहना प्रारम्भ किया। ।। ४-२०-१ ।।
Lord Viṣṇu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, said: My dear King Pṛthu, Indra, the King of heaven, has disturbed your execution of one hundred sacrifices. Now he has come with Me to be forgiven by you. Therefore excuse him. ।। 4-20-2 ।।
english translation
भगवान् विष्णु ने कहा : हे राजा पृथु, स्वर्ग के राजा इन्द्र ने तुम्हारे सौवें यज्ञ में विघ्न डाला है। अब वह मेरे साथ तुमसे क्षमा माँगने के लिए आया है, अत: उसे क्षमा कर दो। ।। ४-२०-२ ।।

zrIbhagavAnuvAca eSa te'kArSIdbhaGgaM hayamedhazatasya ha | kSamApayata AtmAnamamuSya kSantumarhasi || 4-20-2 ||
O King, one who is advanced in intelligence and eager to perform welfare activities for others is considered best amongst human beings. An advanced human being is never malicious to others. Those with advanced intelligence are always conscious that this material body is different from the soul. ।। 4-20-3 ।।
english translation
हे राजन्, जो व्यक्ति परम बुद्धिमान तथा दूसरों का शुभचिन्तक होता है, वह मनुष्यों में श्रेष्ठ समझा जाता है। सिद्ध पुरुष कभी दूसरों से बैर नहीं करता। जो अग्रगण्य बुद्धिमान हैं, वे यह भली-भाँति जानते हैं कि यह भौतिक शरीर आत्मा से भिन्न है। ।। ४-२०-३ ।।
पुरुषा यदि मुह्यन्ति त्वादृशा देवमायया । श्रम एव परं जातो दीर्घया वृद्धसेवया ।। ४-२०-४ ।।
If a personality like you, who are so much advanced because of executing the instructions of the previous ācāryas, is carried away by the influence of My material energy, then all your advancement may be considered simply a waste of time. ।। 4-20-4 ।।
english translation
यदि तुम जैसे पुरुष, जो पूर्व आचार्यों के आदेशों के अनुसार कार्य करने के कारण इतने उन्नत हैं, मेरी माया से मोहग्रस्त हो जाँय तो तुम्हारी समस्त सिद्धि को समय का अपव्यय मात्र ही समझा जाएगा। ।। ४-२०-४ ।।
Those who are in full knowledge of the bodily conception of life, who know that this body is composed of nescience, desires and activities resulting from illusion, do not become addicted to the body. ।। 4-20-5 ।।

जो लोग जीवन की देहात्मबुद्धि की अवधारणा से भली-भाँति परिचित हैं, जो यह जानते हैं कि यह शरीर मोह से उत्पन्न अज्ञान, आकांक्षाओं तथा कर्मों से रचित है, वे इस शरीर के प्रति कभी भी आसक्त नहीं होते। ।। ४-२०-५ ।।
