अपश्यमानः स तदाततायिनं महामृधे कञ्चन मानवोत्तमः । पुरीं दिदृक्षन्नपि नाविशद्द्विषां न मायिनां वेद चिकीर्षितं जनः ॥ ४-१०-२१ ॥

Dhruva Mahārāja, the best of human beings, observed that in that great battlefield not one of the opposing soldiers was left standing with proper weapons. He then desired to see the city of Alakāpurī, but he thought to himself, “No one knows the plans of the mystic Yakṣas.” ॥ 4-10-21 ॥

english translation

मानवों में श्रेष्ठ ध्रुव महाराज ने देखा कि उस विशाल युद्धभूमि में एक भी सशस्त्र शत्रु सैनिक शेष नहीं रहा। तब उनकी इच्छा अलकापुरी देखने को हुई। किन्तु उन्होंने मन में सोचा, “यक्षों की मायावी योजनाओं को कोई नहीं जानता।” ॥ ४-१०-२१ ॥

इति ब्रुवंश्चित्ररथः स्वसारथिं यत्तः परेषां प्रतियोगशङ्कितः । शुश्राव शब्दं जलधेरिवेरितं नभस्वतो दिक्षु रजोऽन्वदृश्यत ॥ ४-१०-२२ ॥

In the meantime, while Dhruva Mahārāja, doubtful of his mystic enemies, was talking with his charioteer, they heard a tremendous sound, as if the whole ocean were there, and they found that from the sky a great dust storm was coming over them from all directions. ॥ 4-10-22 ॥

english translation

जब ध्रुव महाराज अपने मायावी शत्रुओं से सशंकित होकर अपने सारथी से बातें कर रहे थे तो उन्हें प्रचण्ड ध्वनि सुनाई पड़ी, मानो सम्पूर्ण समुद्र उमड़ आया हो। उन्होंने देखा कि आकाश से उन पर चारों ओर से धूल भरी आँधी आ रही है। ॥ ४-१०-२२ ॥

क्षणेनाच्छादितं व्योम घनानीकेन सर्वतः । विस्फुरत्तडिता दिक्षु त्रासयत्स्तनयित्नुना ॥ ४-१०-२३ ॥

Within a moment the whole sky was overcast with dense clouds, and severe thundering was heard. There was glittering electric lightning and severe rainfall. ॥ 4-10-23 ॥

एक क्षण में सारा आकाश घने बादलों से छा गया और घोर गर्जन सुनाई पडऩे लगा। बिजली चमकने लगी और भीषण वर्षा होने लगी। ॥ ४-१०-२३ ॥

ववृषू रुधिरौघासृक्पूयविण्मूत्रमेदसः । निपेतुर्गगनादस्य कबन्धान्यग्रतोऽनघ ॥ ४-१०-२४ ॥

My dear faultless Vidura, in that rainfall there was blood, mucus, pus, stool, urine and marrow falling heavily before Dhruva Mahārāja, and there were trunks of bodies falling from the sky. ॥ 4-10-24 ॥

english translation

हे निष्पाप विदुर, उस वर्षा में ध्रुव महाराज के समक्ष भारी मात्रा में रक्त, श्लेष्मा (कफ), पीब, मल, मूत्र तथा मज्जा और आकाश से शरीरों के धड़ (रुंड) गिर रहे थे। ॥ ४-१०-२४ ॥

ततः खेऽदृश्यत गिरिर्निपेतुः सर्वतोदिशम् । गदापरिघनिस्त्रिंशमुसलाः साश्मवर्षिणः ॥ ४-१०-२५ ‌‌॥

Next, a great mountain was visible in the sky, and from all directions hailstones fell, along with lances, clubs, swords, iron bludgeons and great pieces of stone. ॥ 4-10-25 ॥

फिर आकाश में एक विशाल पर्वत दिखाई पड़ा और चारों ओर से बर्छे, गदा, तलवारें, परिघ तथा पत्थरों के विशाल खण्डों की वर्षा के साथ उपलवृष्टि होने लगी। ॥ ४-१०-२५ ॥
