धनुर्विस्फूर्जयन् दिव्यं द्विषतां खेदमुद्वहन् । अस्त्रौघं व्यधमद्बाणैर्घनानीकमिवानिलः ॥ ४-१०-१६ ॥

Dhruva Mahārāja’s bow and arrows twanged and hissed, causing lamentation in the hearts of his enemies. He began to shoot incessant arrows, shattering all their different weapons, just as the blasting wind scatters the assembled clouds in the sky. ॥ 4-10-16 ॥

english translation

ध्रुव महाराज के धनुष-बाण टंकार तथा फूत्कार करने लगे जिससे उनके शत्रुओं के हृदय में त्रास उत्पन्न होने लगा। वे निरन्तर बाण बरसाने लगे, जिससे सभी के विभिन्न हथियार वैसे ही तितर-बितर हो गये, जिस प्रकार प्रबल वायु से आकाश में एकत्र बादल बिखर जाते हैं। ॥ ४-१०-१६ ॥

तस्य ते चापनिर्मुक्ता भित्त्वा वर्माणि रक्षसाम् । कायानाविविशुस्तिग्मा गिरीनशनयो यथा ॥ ४-१०-१७ ॥

The sharp arrows released from the bow of Dhruva Mahārāja pierced the shields and bodies of the enemy, like the thunderbolts released by the King of heaven, which dismantle the bodies of the mountains. ॥ 4-10-17 ॥

english translation

ध्रुव महाराज के धनुष से छूटे हुए प्रखर बाण शत्रुओं के कवचों तथा शरीरों में घुसने लगे, मानो स्वर्ग के राजा द्वारा छोड़ा गया वज्र हो, जो पर्वतों के शरीरों को छिन्न-भिन्न कर देता है। ॥ ४-१०-१७ ॥

भल्लैः सञ्छिद्यमानानां शिरोभिश्चारुकुण्डलैः । ऊरुभिर्हेमतालाभैर्दोर्भिर्वलयवल्गुभिः ॥ ४-१०-१८ ॥

The great sage Maitreya continued: My dear Vidura, the heads of those who were cut to pieces by the arrows of Dhruva Mahārāja were decorated very beautifully with earrings and turbans. The legs of their bodies were as beautiful as golden palm trees, their arms were decorated with golden bracelets ॥ 4-10-18 ॥

महर्षि मैत्रेय ने आगे कहा : हे विदुर, ध्रुव महाराज के बाणों से जो सिर छिन्न-भिन्न हुए थे वे सुन्दर कुण्डलों तथा पागों से अच्छी तरह से अलंकृत थे। उन शरीरों के पाँव सुनहरे ताड़ के वृक्षों के समान सुन्दर थे; उनकी भुजाएं सुनहरे कंकणों ॥ ४-१०-१८ ॥

हारकेयूरमुकुटैरुष्णीषैश्च महाधनैः । आस्तृतास्ता रणभुवो रेजुर्वीर मनोहराः ॥ ४-१०-१९ ॥

And armlets, and on their heads there were very valuable helmets bedecked with gold. All these ornaments lying on that battlefield were very attractive and could bewilder the mind of a hero. ॥ 4-10-19 ॥

तथा बाजूबन्दों से सुसज्जित थीं और उनके सिरों पर बहुमूल्य सुनहरे मुकुट थे। युद्ध भूमि में बिखरे हुए ये आभूषण अत्यन्त आकर्षक लग रहे थे और किसी भी वीर के मन को मोह सकते थे। ॥ ४-१०-१९ ॥

हतावशिष्टा इतरे रणाजिराद्रक्षोगणाः क्षत्रियवर्यसायकैः । प्रायो विवृक्णावयवा विदुद्रुवुः मृगेन्द्रविक्रीडितयूथपा इव ॥ ४-१०-२० ॥

The remaining Yakṣas who somehow or other were not killed had their limbs cut to pieces by the arrows of the great warrior Dhruva Mahārāja. Thus they began to flee, just as elephants flee when defeated by a lion. ॥ 4-10-20 ॥

english translation

जो यक्ष किसी प्रकार जीवित बच गए, उनके अंग-प्रत्यंग परम वीर ध्रुव महाराज के बाणों से कट कर खण्ड-खण्ड हो गये। वे युद्ध-भूमि छोड़ कर उसी तरह भागने लगे जैसे कि सिंह द्वारा पराजित होने पर हाथी भागते हैं। ॥ ४-१०-२० ॥
