महत्तत्त्वाद्विकुर्वाणादहन्तत्त्वं व्यजायत । कार्यकारणकर्त्रात्मा भूतेन्द्रियमनोमयः ।। ३-५-२९ ।।

Mahat-tattva, or the great causal truth, transforms into false ego, which is manifested in three phases — cause, effect and the doer. All such activities are on the mental plane and are based on the material elements, gross senses and mental speculation. ।। 3-5-29 ।।

english translation

महत् तत्त्व या महान् कारण रूप सत्य मिथ्या अहंकार में परिणत होता है, जो तीन अवस्थाओं में—कारण, कार्य तथा कर्ता के रूप में—प्रकट होता है। ऐसे सारे कार्य मानसिक धरातल पर होते हैं और वे भौतिक तत्त्वों, स्थूल इन्द्रियों तथा मानसिक चिन्तन पर आधारित होते हैं। ।। ३-५-२९ ।।
