परावरेषां भगवन्व्रतानि श्रुतानि मे व्यासमुखादभीक्ष्णम् । अतृप्नुम क्षुल्लसुखावहानां तेषामृते कृष्णकथामृतौघात् ॥ ३-५-१० ॥
O my lord, I have repeatedly heard about these higher and lower statuses of human society from the mouth of Vyāsadeva, and I am quite satiated with all these lesser subject matters and their happiness. They have not satisfied me with the nectar of topics about Kṛṣṇa. ॥ 3-5-10 ॥

हे प्रभु, मैं व्यासदेव के मुख से मानव समाज के इन उच्चतर तथा निम्नतर पदों के विषय में बारम्बार सुन चुका हूँ और मैं इन कम महत्व वाले विषयों तथा उनके सुखों से पूर्णतया तृप्त हूँ। पर वे विषय बिना कृष्ण विषयक कथाओं के अमृत से मुझे तुष्ट नहीं कर सके। ॥ ३-५-१० ॥
