प्रकृतिः पुरुषस्येह दह्यमाना त्वहर्निशम् । तिरोभवित्री शनकैरग्नेर्योनिरिवारणिः ।। ३-२७-२३ ।।

The influence of material nature has covered the living entity, and thus it is as if the living entity were always in a blazing fire. But by the process of seriously discharging devotional service, this influence can be removed, just as wooden sticks which cause a fire are themselves consumed by it. ।। 3-27-23 ।।

english translation

प्रकृति के प्रभाव ने जीवात्मा को ढक कर रखा है मानो जीवात्मा सदैव प्रज्ज्वलित अग्नि में रह रहा हो। किन्तु भक्ति करने से यह प्रभाव उसी प्रकार दूर किया जाता सकता है, जिस प्रकार अग्नि उत्पन्न करने वाले काष्ठ-खण्ड स्वयं भी अग्नि द्वारा भस्म हो जाते हैं। ।। ३-२७-२३ ।।
