तक्षकः प्रहितो विप्राः क्रुद्धेन द्विजसूनुना । हन्तुकामो नृपं गच्छन् ददर्श पथि कश्यपम् ।। १२-६-११ ।।

sanskrit

O learned brāhmaṇas, the snake-bird Takṣaka, who had been sent by the angry son of a brāhmaṇa, was going toward the King to kill him when he saw Kaśyapa Muni on the path. ।। 12-6-11 ।।

english translation

हे विद्वान ब्राह्मणों, सर्प पक्षी तक्षक, जिसे एक ब्राह्मण के क्रोधित पुत्र ने भेजा था, राजा को मारने के लिए उनकी ओर बढ़ रहा था जब उसने रास्ते में कश्यप मुनि को देखा। ।। १२-६-११ ।।

तं तर्पयित्वा द्रविणैर्निवर्त्य विषहारिणम् । द्विजरूपप्रतिच्छन्नः कामरूपोऽदशन्नृपम् ।। १२-६-१२ ।।

sanskrit

Takṣaka flattered Kaśyapa by presenting him with valuable offerings and thereby stopped the sage, who was expert in counteracting poison, from protecting Mahārāja Parīkṣit. Then the snake-bird, who could assume any form he wished, disguised himself as a brāhmaṇa, approached the King and bit him. ।। 12-6-12 ।।

english translation

तक्षक ने मूल्यवान भेंटें देकर कश्यप की चापलूसी की और इस तरह ऋषि को, जो जहर का प्रतिकार करने में विशेषज्ञ थे, महाराज परीक्षित की रक्षा करने से रोक दिया। तब साँप-पक्षी, जो अपनी इच्छानुसार कोई भी रूप धारण कर सकता था, एक ब्राह्मण का भेष बनाकर राजा के पास आया और उसे डस लिया। ।। १२-६-१२ ।।

ब्रह्मभूतस्य राजर्षेर्देहोऽहिगरलाग्निना । बभूव भस्मसात्सद्यः पश्यतां सर्वदेहिनाम् ।। १२-६-१३ ।।

sanskrit

While living beings all over the universe looked on, the body of the great self-realized saint among kings was immediately burned to ashes by the fire of the snake’s poison. ।। 12-6-13 ।।

english translation

जब पूरे ब्रह्मांड में जीवित प्राणियों ने देखा, तो राजाओं के बीच महान आत्म-साक्षात्कारी संत का शरीर सांप के जहर की आग से तुरंत जलकर राख हो गया। ।। १२-६-१३ ।।

There arose a terrible cry of lamentation in all directions on the earth and in the heavens, and all the demigods, demons, human beings and other creatures were astonished. ।। 12-6-14 ।।

english translation

पृथ्वी और स्वर्ग में सभी दिशाओं में भयानक विलाप की आवाज उठी और सभी देवता, दानव, मनुष्य और अन्य प्राणी आश्चर्यचकित हो गए। ।। १२-६-१४ ।।

देवदुन्दुभयो नेदुर्गन्धर्वाप्सरसो जगुः । ववृषुः पुष्पवर्षाणि विबुधाः साधुवादिनः ।। १२-६-१५ ।।

sanskrit

Kettledrums sounded in the regions of the demigods, and the celestial Gandharvas and Apsarās sang. The demigods showered flowers and spoke words of praise. ।। 12-6-15 ।।

english translation

देवताओं के क्षेत्रों में नगाड़े बजने लगे और दिव्य गंधर्वों तथा अप्सराओं ने गायन किया। देवताओं ने फूलों की वर्षा की और स्तुति के शब्द बोले। ।। १२-६-१५ ।।
