तेषामभ्यवहारार्थं शालीन् रहसि पार्थिव । अवघ्नन्त्याः प्रकोष्ठस्थाश्चक्रुः शङ्खाः स्वनं महत् ।। ११-९-६ ।।

sanskrit

The girl went to a private place and began to make preparations so that the unexpected male guests could eat. As she was beating the rice, the conchshell bracelets on her arms were colliding and making a loud noise. ।। 11-9-6 ।।

english translation

लड़की एक निजी स्थान पर गई और तैयारी करने लगी ताकि अप्रत्याशित पुरुष मेहमान खा सकें। जब वह चावल कूट रही थी तो उसकी बांहों में शंख के कंगन टकराकर जोर-जोर से आवाज कर रहे थे। ।। ११-९-६ ।।

सा तज्जुगुप्सितं मत्वा महती वृडिता ततः । बभञ्जैकैकशः शङ्खान् द्वौ द्वौ पाण्योरशेषयत् ।। ११-९-७ ।।

sanskrit

The young girl feared that the men would consider her family to be poor because their daughter was busily engaged in the menial task of husking rice. Being very intelligent, the shy girl broke the shell bracelets from her arms, leaving just two on each wrist. ।। 11-9-7 ।।

english translation

युवा लड़की को डर था कि पुरुष उसके परिवार को गरीब समझेंगे क्योंकि उनकी बेटी चावल की भूसी निकालने के छोटे से काम में व्यस्त थी। बहुत बुद्धिमान होने के कारण, शर्मीली लड़की ने अपनी बाहों से शंख कंगन तोड़ दिए, प्रत्येक कलाई पर केवल दो कंगन बचे। ।। ११-९-७ ।।

उभयोरप्यभूद्घोषो ह्यवघ्नन्त्याः स्म शङ्खयोः । तत्राप्येकं निरभिददेकस्मान्नाभवद्ध्वनिः ।। ११-९-८ ।।

sanskrit

Thereafter, as the young girl continued to husk the rice, the two bracelets on each wrist continued to collide and make noise. Therefore she took one bracelet off each arm, and with only one left on each wrist there was no more noise. ।। 11-9-8 ।।

english translation

इसके बाद, जैसे ही युवा लड़की ने चावल निकालना जारी रखा, प्रत्येक कलाई पर दो कंगन टकराते रहे और शोर करते रहे। इसलिए उसने प्रत्येक हाथ से एक-एक कंगन उतार दिया, और प्रत्येक कलाई पर केवल एक-एक कंगन रह जाने से कोई शोर नहीं था। ।। ११-९-८ ।।

अन्वशिक्षमिमं तस्या उपदेशमरिन्दम । लोकाननुचरन्नेतान् लोकतत्त्वविवित्सया ।। ११-९-९ ।।

O subduer of the enemy, I travel throughout the surface of the earth learning constantly about the nature of this world, and thus I personally witnessed the lesson of the young girl. ।। 11-9-9 ।।

हे शत्रु के वश में करने वाले, मैं इस संसार की प्रकृति के बारे में लगातार सीखते हुए पृथ्वी की पूरी सतह पर यात्रा करता हूं, और इस प्रकार मैंने व्यक्तिगत रूप से उस युवा लड़की के पाठ को देखा। ।। ११-९-९ ।।

वासे बहूनां कलहो भवेद्वार्ता द्वयोरपि । एक एव चरेत्तस्मात्कुमार्या इव कङ्कणः ।। ११-९-१० ।।

sanskrit

When many people live together in one place there will undoubtedly be quarreling. And even if only two people live together there will be frivolous conversation and disagreement. Therefore, to avoid conflict, one should live alone, as we learn from the example of the bracelet of the young girl. ।। 11-9-10 ।।

english translation

जब बहुत से लोग एक ही स्थान पर एक साथ रहेंगे तो झगड़ा तो होगा ही। और अगर केवल दो लोग भी एक साथ रहते हैं तो भी फालतू बातचीत और असहमति होगी। इसलिए, संघर्ष से बचने के लिए, व्यक्ति को अकेले रहना चाहिए, जैसा कि हम युवा लड़की के कंगन के उदाहरण से सीखते हैं। ।। ११-९-१० ।।
