नात्मा वपुः पार्थिवमिन्द्रियाणि देवा ह्यसुर्वायुर्जलं हुताशः । मनोऽन्नमात्रं धिषणा च सत्त्वमहङ्कृतिः खं क्षितिरर्थसाम्यम् ।। ११-२८-२४ ।।

sanskrit

The material body made of earth is not the true self; nor are the senses, their presiding demigods or the air of life; nor is the external air, water or fire or one’s mind. All these are simply matter. Similarly, neither one’s intelligence, material consciousness nor ego, nor the elements of ether or earth, nor the objects of sense perception, nor even the primeval state of material equilibrium can be considered the actual identity of the soul. ।। 11-28-24 ।।

english translation

पृथ्वी से बना भौतिक शरीर सच्चा आत्म नहीं है; न ही इंद्रियाँ, उनके अधिष्ठाता देवता या जीवन की वायु हैं; न ही बाहरी हवा, पानी, आग या किसी का मन है। ये सब तो बस पदार्थ हैं. इसी प्रकार, न तो किसी की बुद्धि, भौतिक चेतना, न ही अहंकार, न ही आकाश या पृथ्वी के तत्व, न ही इंद्रिय बोध की वस्तुएं, और न ही भौतिक संतुलन की आदिम अवस्था को भी आत्मा की वास्तविक पहचान माना जा सकता है। ।। ११-२८-२४ ।।
