तं दुर्जयं शत्रुमसह्यवेगमरुन्तुदं तन्न विजित्य केचित् । कुर्वन्त्यसद्विग्रहमत्र मर्त्यैर्मित्राण्युदासीनरिपून् विमूढाः ।। ११-२३-४९ ।।

Failing to conquer this irrepressible enemy, the mind, whose urges are intolerable and who torments the heart, many people are completely bewildered and create useless quarrel with others. Thus they conclude that other people are either their friends, their enemies or parties indifferent to them. ।। 11-23-49 ।।

english translation

इस अदम्य शत्रु, मन, जिसके आवेग असहनीय हैं और जो हृदय को पीड़ा देता है, पर विजय प्राप्त करने में असफल होने पर, कई लोग पूरी तरह से भ्रमित हो जाते हैं और दूसरों के साथ व्यर्थ झगड़ा करते हैं। इस प्रकार वे यह निष्कर्ष निकालते हैं कि अन्य लोग या तो उनके मित्र हैं, उनके शत्रु हैं या उनके प्रति उदासीन पार्टियाँ हैं। ।। ११-२३-४९ ।।
