ध्यायन् मनोऽनु विषयान् दृष्टान् वानुश्रुतानथ । उद्यत्सीदत्कर्मतन्त्रं स्मृतिस्तदनु शाम्यति ।। ११-२२-३७ ।।

sanskrit

The mind, bound to the reactions of fruitive work, always meditates on the objects of the senses, both those that are seen in this world and those that are heard about from Vedic authority. Consequently, the mind appears to come into being and to suffer annihilation along with its objects of perception, and thus its ability to distinguish past and future is lost. ।। 11-22-37 ।।

english translation

मन, सकाम कर्म की प्रतिक्रियाओं से बंधा हुआ, हमेशा इंद्रियों की वस्तुओं पर ध्यान करता है, दोनों जो इस दुनिया में देखी जाती हैं और जो वैदिक प्राधिकार से सुनी जाती हैं। नतीजतन, ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि मन अस्तित्व में आया है और अपनी धारणा की वस्तुओं के साथ विनाश को भुगत रहा है, और इस प्रकार अतीत और भविष्य में अंतर करने की उसकी क्षमता खो जाती है। ।। ११-२२-३७ ।।
