भयं द्वितीयाभिनिवेशतः स्यादीशादपेतस्य विपर्ययोऽस्मृतिः । तन्माययातो बुध आभजेत्तं भक्त्यैकयेशं गुरुदेवतात्मा ।। ११-२-३७ ।।

Fear arises when a living entity misidentifies himself as the material body because of absorption in the external, illusory energy of the Lord. When the living entity thus turns away from the Supreme Lord, he also forgets his own constitutional position as a servant of the Lord. This bewildering, fearful condition is effected by the potency for illusion, called māyā. Therefore, an intelligent person should engage unflinchingly in the unalloyed devotional service of the Lord, under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master, whom he should accept as his worshipable deity and as his very life and soul. ।। 11-2-37 ।।

english translation

भय तब उत्पन्न होता है जब कोई जीव भगवान की बाहरी, मायावी ऊर्जा में लीन होने के कारण खुद को भौतिक शरीर के रूप में गलत पहचानता है। जब जीव इस प्रकार भगवान से विमुख हो जाता है, तो वह भगवान के सेवक के रूप में अपनी संवैधानिक स्थिति को भी भूल जाता है। यह हतप्रभ, भयावह स्थिति भ्रम की शक्ति से प्रभावित होती है, जिसे माया कहा जाता है। इसलिए, एक बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति को एक प्रामाणिक आध्यात्मिक गुरु के मार्गदर्शन में, भगवान की अनन्य भक्ति सेवा में निश्चलतापूर्वक संलग्न रहना चाहिए, जिसे उसे अपने पूजनीय देवता और अपने जीवन और आत्मा के रूप में स्वीकार करना चाहिए। ।। ११-२-३७ ।।
