पुरग्रामव्रजान् सार्थान् भिक्षार्थं प्रविशंश्चरेत् । पुण्यदेशसरिच्छैलवनाश्रमवतीं महीम् ।। ११-१८-२४ ।।

sanskrit

The sage should travel in sanctified places, by flowing rivers and within the solitude of mountains and forests. He should enter the cities, towns and pasturing grounds and approach ordinary working men only to beg his bare sustenance. ।। 11-18-24 ।।

english translation

साधु को पवित्र स्थानों में, बहती हुई नदियों के किनारे तथा पर्वतों तथा वनों के एकान्त में भ्रमण करना चाहिए। उसे शहरों, कस्बों और चरागाहों में प्रवेश करना चाहिए और केवल अपने भरण-पोषण के लिए सामान्य कामकाजी लोगों से संपर्क करना चाहिए। ।। ११-१८-२४ ।।
