ईक्षेत विभ्रममिदं मनसो विलासं दृष्टं विनष्टमतिलोलमलातचक्रम् । विज्ञानमेकमुरुधेव विभाति माया स्वप्नस्त्रिधा गुणविसर्गकृतो विकल्पः ।। ११-१३-३४ ।।

One should see that the material world is a distinct illusion appearing in the mind, because material objects have an extremely flickering existence and are here today and gone tomorrow. They can be compared to the streaking red line created by whirling a fiery stick. The spirit soul by nature exists in the single state of pure consciousness. However, in this world he appears in many different forms and stages of existence. The modes of nature divide the soul’s consciousness into normal wakefulness, dreaming and dreamless sleep. All such varieties of perception, however, are actually māyā and exist only like a dream. ।। 11-13-34 ।।

english translation

व्यक्ति को यह देखना चाहिए कि भौतिक संसार मन में दिखाई देने वाला एक स्पष्ट भ्रम है, क्योंकि भौतिक वस्तुओं का अस्तित्व अत्यंत चंचल है और वे आज यहां हैं और कल चले जाएंगे। इनकी तुलना अग्निमय छड़ी को घुमाने से बनी लाल रेखा से की जा सकती है। आत्मा स्वभावतः शुद्ध चेतना की एकल अवस्था में विद्यमान रहती है। हालाँकि, इस दुनिया में वह अस्तित्व के कई अलग-अलग रूपों और चरणों में प्रकट होता है। प्रकृति के गुण आत्मा की चेतना को सामान्य जागृति, स्वप्न और स्वप्नहीन नींद में विभाजित करते हैं। हालाँकि, ऐसी सभी प्रकार की धारणाएँ वास्तव में माया हैं और केवल एक सपने की तरह मौजूद हैं। ।। ११-१३-३४ ।।
