तन्द्रष्टुं नागरास्सर्वे पुरुषाश्च स्त्रियस्तथा ॥ आजग्मुस्सहसा तत्र बाला वृद्धा अपि ध्रुवम्॥ २१॥
The citizens including men, women, children and old women gathered there suddenly to see him.

tandraSTuM nAgarAssarve puruSAzca striyastathA ॥ AjagmussahasA tatra bAlA vRddhA api dhruvam॥ 21॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptश्रुत्वा संगीतं तन्दृष्ट्वा सुनृत्यं च मनोहरम्॥ सहसा मुर्मुहुः सर्वे मेनापि च तदा मुने ॥ २२॥
O sage, hearing the sweet song and witnessing the splendid dance, the people were fascinated and Menā too was highly delighted.
english translation
zrutvA saMgItaM tandRSTvA sunRtyaM ca manoharam॥ sahasA murmuhuH sarve menApi ca tadA mune ॥ 22॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततो मेनाशु रत्नानि स्वर्णपात्रस्थितानि च ॥ तस्मै दातुं ययौ प्रीत्या तदूतिप्री तमानसा ॥ २३ ॥
Immediately Menā whose mind was in exultation, thanks to his clever feats, went to give him potfuls of gems and jewels.

tato menAzu ratnAni svarNapAtrasthitAni ca ॥ tasmai dAtuM yayau prItyA tadUtiprI tamAnasA ॥ 23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतानि न स्वीचकारासौ भिक्षां चेते शिवां च ताम् ॥ पुनस्तु नृत्यं गानं च कौतुकात्कर्तुमुद्यतः ॥ २४ ॥
He did not accept those gems. He wished to have Pārvatī for his alms. Eagerly he began to dance and sing again.

tAni na svIcakArAsau bhikSAM cete zivAM ca tAm ॥ punastu nRtyaM gAnaM ca kautukAtkartumudyataH ॥ 24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमेना तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा चुकोपाति सुविस्मिता ॥ भिक्षुकम्भर्त्सयामास बहिष्कर्तुमियेष सा ॥ २५ ॥
On hearing bis words Menā was surprised. She became furious as well. She rebuked the mendicant and wanted to drive him out.
