तस्मिन्नृपे हते युद्धे शाल्वैस्तु भयविह्वलाः ॥ सैनिका हतशेषाश्च मन्त्रिभिस्सह दुद्रुवुः ॥ ६ ॥
When the king was. killed in the battle by the Śālvas, the terrified soldiers who survived death fled along with the ministers.

tasminnRpe hate yuddhe zAlvaistu bhayavihvalAH ॥ sainikA hatazeSAzca mantribhissaha dudruvuH ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ तस्य महाराज्ञी रात्रौ स्वपुरतो मुने ॥ संरुद्धा रिपुभिर्यत्नादन्तर्वत्नी बहिर्ययौ ॥ ७ ॥
His crowned queen who was pregnant and who had been imprisoned by the enemies escaped from the city, O sage, during the night,

atha tasya mahArAjJI rAtrau svapurato mune ॥ saMruddhA ripubhiryatnAdantarvatnI bahiryayau ॥ 7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनिर्गता शोकसंतप्ता सा राजमहिषी शनैः॥ प्राचीं दिशं ययौ दूरं स्मरन्तीशपदाम्बुजम्॥ ८॥
Coming out of the city the grief-stricken crowned queen slowly went very far in the eastern direction with her heart set on the lotus-like feet of Śiva.
english translation
nirgatA zokasaMtaptA sA rAjamahiSI zanaiH॥ prAcIM dizaM yayau dUraM smarantIzapadAmbujam॥ 8॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ प्रभाते सा राज्ञी ददर्श विमलं सरः॥ अतीता दूरमध्वानं दयया शङ्करस्य हि ॥ ९॥
Early in the morning next day after she had traversed a long way, the queen saw a pure lake, thanks to the mercy of Siva.

atha prabhAte sA rAjJI dadarza vimalaM saraH॥ atItA dUramadhvAnaM dayayA zaGkarasya hi ॥ 9॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्रागत्य प्रिया राज्ञस्संतप्ता सुकुमारिणी॥ निवासार्थं सरस्तीरे छायावृक्षमुपाश्रयत् ॥ १०॥
After reaching the banks of the lake the distressed beloved of the king, of tender body, resorted to a shady tree for rest and stay.
