स भद्रायुः कदाचित्स्वप्रियया गहनं वनम् । प्राविशत्संविहारार्थं वसन्तसमये मुने ॥ ६॥
O sage, once after the advent of spring, the king Bhadrāyu entered a thick forest along with his beloved queen, for sport.
english translation
sa bhadrAyuH kadAcitsvapriyayA gahanaM vanam । prAvizatsaMvihArArthaM vasantasamaye mune ॥ 6॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ तस्मिन्वने रम्ये विजहार स भूपतिः ॥ शरणागतपालिन्या तमास्यप्रियया सह ॥ ७॥
In that beautiful forest, the king sported about along with his beloved who protected those who sought refuge in her.
english translation
atha tasminvane ramye vijahAra sa bhUpatiH ॥ zaraNAgatapAlinyA tamAsyapriyayA saha ॥ 7॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ तद्धर्मदृढतां प्रतीक्षन्परमेश्वरः ॥ लीलां चकार तत्रैव शिवया सह शङ्करः ॥ ८॥
Then, in order to test his steadfastness and piety, lord Śiva carried out his sports there itself along with Śivā.

atha taddharmadRDhatAM pratIkSanparamezvaraH ॥ lIlAM cakAra tatraiva zivayA saha zaGkaraH ॥ 8॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशिवा शिवश्च भूत्वोभौ तद्वने द्विजदम्पती॥ व्याघ्रं मायामयं कृत्वाविर्भूतौ निजलीलया॥ ९॥
Śiva and Śivā in their own divine sports assumed the form of a brahmin couple and created an illusory tiger with their Māyā.
english translation
zivA zivazca bhUtvobhau tadvane dvijadampatI॥ vyAghraM mAyAmayaM kRtvAvirbhUtau nijalIlayA॥ 9॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथाविदूरे तस्यैव द्रवन्तौ भयविह्वलौ ॥ अन्वीयमानौ व्याघ्रेण रुदन्तौ तौ बभूवतुः ॥ १० ॥
Not far from the place where the king stood, they began running in great fright on being pursued by the tiger. They cried and shouted too.

athAvidUre tasyaiva dravantau bhayavihvalau ॥ anvIyamAnau vyAghreNa rudantau tau babhUvatuH ॥ 10 ॥
