अम्बरीषपरीक्षायां दुर्वासश्चरितम्मुने ।। प्रोक्तामन्यच्चरित्रन्त्वं शृणु तस्य मुनीश्वर ।। ५१ ।।

पुनर्दाशरथेश्चक्रे परीक्षां नियमेन वै ।। मुनिरूपेण कालेन यः कृतो नियमो मुने ।। ५२ ।।

O sage, through the condition stipulated by Kāla in the form of a sage he conducted the test of Rāma, son of Daśaratha.

तदैव मुनिना तेन सौमित्रिः प्रेषितो हठात् ।। तन्तत्याज द्रुतं रामो बन्धुं पणवशान्मुने ।। ५३ ।।

At the very same time Lakṣmaṇa was obstinately sent in by Durvāsas. O sage, Rāma immediately forsook his brother in accordance with the earlier agreement.

सा कथा विहिता लोके मुनिभिर्बहुधोदिता ।। नातो मे विस्तरात्प्रोक्ता ज्ञाता यत्सर्वधा बुधैः ।। ५४ ।।

The story has been diversely narrated and spread in the world by the sages. It is known by all means to the scholars. Hence it is not mentioned in detail by me.

नियमं सुदृढं दृष्ट्वा सुप्रसन्नोऽभवन्मुनिः ।। दुर्वासास्सुप्रसन्नात्मा वरन्तस्मै प्रदत्तवान् ।। ५५ ।।

Knowing his promise steady and resolute, the sage was highly delighted. The delighted sage Durvāsas granted him the desired boons.

niyamaM sudRDhaM dRSTvA suprasanno'bhavanmuniH || durvAsAssuprasannAtmA varantasmai pradattavAn || 55 ||
