अम्बरीष उवाच॥ यद्यस्ति दत्तमिष्टं च स्वधर्मो वा स्वनुष्ठितः ॥ कुलं नो विप्रदैवं चेद्धरेरस्त्रं प्रशाम्यतु ॥ ४६ ॥
Ambarīṣa said:— If I possess the merit of charity and sacrifice, if my spiritual duty has been well performed by me, and if our family considers brahmins godly, let the weapon of Viṣṇu turn calm.
english translation
यदि नो भगवान्प्रीतो मद्भक्तो भक्तवत्सलः ॥ सुदर्शनमिदं चास्त्रं प्रशाम्यतु विशेषतः ॥ ४७ ॥
If our lord, favourably disposed to his devotees, is delighted with my devotion let this missile Sudarśana become quite calm.
english translation
नन्दीश्वर उवाच ॥ इति स्तुवति रुद्राग्रे शैवं चक्रं सुदर्शनम् ॥ अशाम्यत्सर्वथा ज्ञात्वा तं शिवांशं सुलब्धधीः ॥ ४८॥
Nandishwara said. Thus he praises the Sudarsana wheel of Shiva on the top of Rudra. He was not at all calm knowing that he was a part of Shiva and had a good intellect.
english translation
अथाम्बरीषस्स नृपः प्रणनाम च तं मुनिम् ॥ शिवावतारं संज्ञाय स्वपरीक्षार्थमागतम् ॥ ४९॥
Then king Ambarisha bowed down to the sage Recognizing him as an incarnation of Lord Śiva he came to test himself.
english translation
सुप्रसन्नो बभूवाथ स मुनिः शंकरांशजः॥ भुक्त्वा तस्मै वरं दत्त्वा स्वाभीष्टं स्वालयं ययौ ॥ ५० ॥
The sage, born of Śiva’s part, was much delighted. He took his meals and granted him the desired boon. Then he returned to his abode.
