कर्णवेधन्ततः कृत्वा श्रवणर्क्षे स कर्मवित्॥ ब्रह्मतेजोभिवृद्ध्यर्थं पञ्चमेऽब्दे व्रतन्ददौ॥ ३५॥
The knower rites performed the Karṇavedha rite under the constellation of Sravaṇa. In order to enhance his brahminical splendour he made him perform an auspicious Vrata in his fifth year.
