    शयनानि च मुख्यानि वाजिनां खादनं च ते । एवं ब्रुवाणं तु गुहं राघवः प्रत्युवाच ह ॥ २-५०-४०zayanAni ca mukhyAni vAjinAM khAdanaM ca te । evaM bruvANaM tu guhaM rAghavaH pratyuvAca ha ॥ 2-50-40There is an excellent bed ready. There are also enough fodder for the horses'. In this way, hearing ( the words of ) Guha, Rama replied - ॥ 2-50-40॥

Thereafter he brought rice and various kinds of tasty food . - ॥ 2-50-37॥

    तमार्तस्सम्परिष्वज्य गुहो राघवमब्रवीत् । यथाऽयोध्या तथेयं ते राम किं करवाणि ते ॥ २-५०-३६tamArtassampariSvajya guho rAghavamabravIt । yathA'yodhyA tatheyaM te rAma kiM karavANi te ॥ 2-50-36Overwhelmed with grief (to see Rama in bark), Guha embraced Rama and said, 'This is just like Ayodhya to you. What can I do for you? ॥ 2-50-36॥

    ततो निषादाधिपतिं दृष्ट्वा दूरादुपस्थितम् । सह सौमित्रिणा रामस्समागच्छद्गुहेन सः ॥ २-५०-३५tato niSAdAdhipatiM dRSTvA dUrAdupasthitam । saha saumitriNA rAmassamAgacchadguhena saH ॥ 2-50-35When Rama and Lakshmana saw from a distance that Guha, king of the nishadas, was approaching them, they went forward to receive him. ॥ 2-50-35॥

    स शृत्वा पुरुषव्याघ्रं रामं विषयमागतम् । वृद्धैः परिवृतोऽमात्यैः ज्ञातिभिश्चाभ्युपागतः ॥ २-५०-३४sa zRtvA puruSavyAghraM rAmaM viSayamAgatam । vRddhaiH parivRto'mAtyaiH jJAtibhizcAbhyupAgataH ॥ 2-50-34Having come to know that Rama, the best among men, had arrived in his region Guha accompanied by senior ministers and people of his clan came to greet him. ॥ 2-50-34॥

    तत्र राजा गुहो नाम रामस्यात्मसमः सखा । निषादजात्यो बलवान् स्थपतिश्चेति विश्रुतः ॥ २-५०-३३tatra rAjA guho nAma rAmasyAtmasamaH sakhA । niSAdajAtyo balavAn sthapatizceti vizrutaH ॥ 2-50-33There lived the mighty ( powerful ) king Guha who was born in the race of nishadas (hunters) and became famous as their lord. He was a friend to Rama who was like his own self. ॥ 2-50-33॥

    सुमन्त्रोऽप्यवतीर्यास्मान्मोचयित्वा हयोत्तमान् । वृक्षमूलगतं राममुपतस्थे कृताञ्जलिः ॥ २-५०-३२sumantro'pyavatIryAsmAnmocayitvA hayottamAn । vRkSamUlagataM rAmamupatasthe kRtAJjaliH ॥ 2-50-32Sumantra also got off the chariot, unyoked the horses and with folded palms stood near Rama who had already reached the foot of the tree. ॥ 2-50-32॥

    रामोऽभियाय तं रम्यं वृक्षमिक्ष्वाकुनन्दनः । रथादवातरत्तस्मात्सभार्य सहलक्ष्मणः ॥ २-५०-३१rAmo'bhiyAya taM ramyaM vRkSamikSvAkunandanaH । rathAdavAtarattasmAtsabhArya sahalakSmaNaH ॥ 2-50-31Rama, delight of the Ikshvakus, along with his consort and Lakshmana reached that beautiful tree and alighted from the chariot. ॥ 2-50-31॥
