    ये पारमेष्ठ्यं धिषणमधितिष्ठन्न कञ्चन । प्रत्युत्तिष्ठेदिति ब्रूयुर्धर्मं ते न परं विदुः ॥ ६-७-१३ ॥ye pArameSThyaM dhiSaNamadhitiSThanna kaJcana । pratyuttiSThediti brUyurdharmaM te na paraM viduH ॥ 6-7-13 ॥If a person says, “One who is situated on the exalted throne of a king should not stand up to show respect to another king or a brāhmaṇa,” it is to be understood that he does not know the superior religious principles. ॥ 6-7-13 ॥

Under the circumstances, who in this world would accept such riches at the risk of falling down? Alas! I condemn my wealth and opulence. ॥ 6-7-12 ॥

    अहो बत मयासाधु कृतं वै दभ्रबुद्धिना । यन्मयैश्वर्यमत्तेन गुरुः सदसि कात्कृतः ॥ ६-७-११ ॥aho bata mayAsAdhu kRtaM vai dabhrabuddhinA । yanmayaizvaryamattena guruH sadasi kAtkRtaH ॥ 6-7-11 ॥Alas, what a regrettable deed I have committed because of my lack of intelligence and my pride in my material opulences. I failed to show respect to my spiritual master when he entered this assembly, and thus I have insulted him. ॥ 6-7-11 ॥

    तर्ह्येव प्रतिबुध्येन्द्रो गुरुहेलनमात्मनः । गर्हयामास सदसि स्वयमात्मानमात्मना ॥ ६-७-१० ॥tarhyeva pratibudhyendro guruhelanamAtmanaH । garhayAmAsa sadasi svayamAtmAnamAtmanA ॥ 6-7-10 ॥Indra, the King of heaven, could immediately understand his mistake. Realizing he had disrespected his spiritual master, he condemned himself in the presence of all the members of the assembly. ॥ 6-7-10 ॥

    सर्वलोकस्य धर्मात्मा शरण्यश्शरणं पुरा । गुरुर्मे राघवस्सोऽयं सुग्रीवं शरणं गतः ॥ ४-४-२०sarvalokasya dharmAtmA zaraNyazzaraNaM purA । gururme rAghavasso'yaM sugrIvaM zaraNaM gataH ॥ 4-4-20'This righteous Rama who used to lend in the past protection to the whole world and, indeed, a refuge to all, venerable sir, now seeks Sugriva's shelter. ॥ 4-4-20॥

    एष दत्त्वा च वित्तानि प्राप्य चानुत्तमं यशः । लोकनाथः पुरा भूत्वा सुग्रीवं नाथमिच्छति ॥ ४-४-१८eSa dattvA ca vittAni prApya cAnuttamaM yazaH । lokanAthaH purA bhUtvA sugrIvaM nAthamicchati ॥ 4-4-18'Having earned supreme fame through his munificence in the past, this lord of the world now craves Sugriva's indulgence. ॥ 4-4-18॥

Now Rama and I have arrived seeking Sugriva's shelter. ॥ 4-4-17॥
