श॒युः प॒रस्ता॒दध॒ नु द्वि॑मा॒ताब॑न्ध॒नश्च॑रति व॒त्स एक॑: । मि॒त्रस्य॒ ता वरु॑णस्य व्र॒तानि॑ म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ शयुः परस्तादध नु द्विमाताबन्धनश्चरति वत्स एकः । मित्रस्य ता वरुणस्य व्रतानि महद्देवानामसुरत्वमेकम् ॥

sanskrit

The child of two mothers sleeps in the west, but (in the morning) the single infant proceeds unobstructed (through the sky); these are the functions of Mitra and Varuṇa; great and unequalled is the might of the gods.

english translation

द्वि॒मा॒ता होता॑ वि॒दथे॑षु स॒म्राळन्वग्रं॒ चर॑ति॒ क्षेति॑ बु॒ध्नः । प्र रण्या॑नि रण्य॒वाचो॑ भरन्ते म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ द्विमाता होता विदथेषु सम्राळन्वग्रं चरति क्षेति बुध्नः । प्र रण्यानि रण्यवाचो भरन्ते महद्देवानामसुरत्वमेकम् ॥

The child of two mothers, the invoker of the gods at sacrifices, the universal sovereign, proceeds thenceforward (in the sky); the root (of all), he abides (in the houses of the pious); the reciters of plural asant (words) offer him agreeable (praises); great and unequalled is the might of the gods.

शूर॑स्येव॒ युध्य॑तो अन्त॒मस्य॑ प्रती॒चीनं॑ ददृशे॒ विश्व॑मा॒यत् । अ॒न्तर्म॒तिश्च॑रति नि॒ष्षिधं॒ गोर्म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ शूरस्येव युध्यतो अन्तमस्य प्रतीचीनं ददृशे विश्वमायत् । अन्तर्मतिश्चरति निष्षिधं गोर्महद्देवानामसुरत्वमेकम् ॥

All (creatures) approaching too near his confines are beheld with their faces turned away as (an enemy) flies from a combatant; obvious (to all), he penetrates the water for its destruction; great and unequalled is the might of the gods.

नि वे॑वेति पलि॒तो दू॒त आ॑स्व॒न्तर्म॒हाँश्च॑रति रोच॒नेन॑ । वपूं॑षि॒ बिभ्र॑द॒भि नो॒ वि च॑ष्टे म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ नि वेवेति पलितो दूत आस्वन्तर्महाँश्चरति रोचनेन । वपूंषि बिभ्रदभि नो वि चष्टे महद्देवानामसुरत्वमेकम् ॥

In those (plural nts) the aged messenger (of the gods) constantly abides; mighty, he presses with the radiant (sun) through the region of space; assuming various forms, he looks (complacently) upon us; great and unequalled is the might of the gods.

विष्णु॑र्गो॒पाः प॑र॒मं पा॑ति॒ पाथ॑: प्रि॒या धामा॑न्य॒मृता॒ दधा॑नः । अ॒ग्निष्टा विश्वा॒ भुव॑नानि वेद म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ विष्णुर्गोपाः परमं पाति पाथः प्रिया धामान्यमृता दधानः । अग्निष्टा विश्वा भुवनानि वेद महद्देवानामसुरत्वमेकम् ॥

Pervading and protecting (all), possessing grateful and immortal radiance, he preserves the supreme path (or the rains), for Agni knows all these worlds; great and unequalled is the might of the gods.
