उ॒द॒प्रुतो॒ न वयो॒ रक्ष॑माणा॒ वाव॑दतो अ॒भ्रिय॑स्येव॒ घोषा॑: । गि॒रि॒भ्रजो॒ नोर्मयो॒ मद॑न्तो॒ बृह॒स्पति॑म॒भ्य१॒॑र्का अ॑नावन् ॥ उदप्रुतो न वयो रक्षमाणा वावदतो अभ्रियस्येव घोषाः । गिरिभ्रजो नोर्मयो मदन्तो बृहस्पतिमभ्यर्का अनावन् ॥

Like birds swimming in water when keeping watch, like the sound of the roaring thunder-cloud, likesounding torrents falling from the clouds, the worshippers glorify Bṛhaspati.

english translation

u॒da॒pruto॒ na vayo॒ rakSa॑mANA॒ vAva॑dato a॒bhriya॑syeva॒ ghoSA॑: | gi॒ri॒bhrajo॒ normayo॒ mada॑nto॒ bRha॒spati॑ma॒bhya1॒॑rkA a॑nAvan || udapruto na vayo rakSamANA vAvadato abhriyasyeva ghoSAH | giribhrajo normayo madanto bRhaspatimabhyarkA anAvan ||

सं गोभि॑राङ्गिर॒सो नक्ष॑माणो॒ भग॑ इ॒वेद॑र्य॒मणं॑ निनाय । जने॑ मि॒त्रो न दम्प॑ती अनक्ति॒ बृह॑स्पते वा॒जया॒शूँरि॑वा॒जौ ॥ सं गोभिराङ्गिरसो नक्षमाणो भग इवेदर्यमणं निनाय । जने मित्रो न दम्पती अनक्ति बृहस्पते वाजयाशूँरिवाजौ ॥

The son of Aṅgirasa pervading him with his brightness has, like Bhaga, brought Aryaman to the cows;as Mitra (unites his radiance) with the people, so has he united husband and wife; Bṛhaspati, send (yourwide-spread rays to your worshippers) as (a warrior sends his) horses to battle.

सा॒ध्व॒र्या अ॑ति॒थिनी॑रिषि॒रा स्पा॒र्हाः सु॒वर्णा॑ अनव॒द्यरू॑पाः । बृह॒स्पति॒: पर्व॑तेभ्यो वि॒तूर्या॒ निर्गा ऊ॑पे॒ यव॑मिव स्थि॒विभ्य॑: ॥ साध्वर्या अतिथिनीरिषिरा स्पार्हाः सुवर्णा अनवद्यरूपाः । बृहस्पतिः पर्वतेभ्यो वितूर्या निर्गा ऊपे यवमिव स्थिविभ्यः ॥

Bṛhaspati brings unto (the gods), after extricating them from the mountains, the cows that are theyielders of pure (milk), ever in motion, the objects of search and of desire, well-coloured and of unexceptionableform, (as men bring) barley from the granaries.

आ॒प्रु॒षा॒यन्मधु॑न ऋ॒तस्य॒ योनि॑मवक्षि॒पन्न॒र्क उ॒ल्कामि॑व॒ द्योः । बृह॒स्पति॑रु॒द्धर॒न्नश्म॑नो॒ गा भूम्या॑ उ॒द्नेव॒ वि त्वचं॑ बिभेद ॥ आप्रुषायन्मधुन ऋतस्य योनिमवक्षिपन्नर्क उल्कामिव द्योः । बृहस्पतिरुद्धरन्नश्मनो गा भूम्या उद्नेव वि त्वचं बिभेद ॥

Saturating (the earth) with water, scattering the receptacle of rain, the adorable Bṛhaspati, raising upthe cattle from the rock as (he raises) a meteor from the sky, rent the skin of the earth (with the hoofs of thecattle) as (Parjanya rends it) with rain.

अप॒ ज्योति॑षा॒ तमो॑ अ॒न्तरि॑क्षादु॒द्नः शीपा॑लमिव॒ वात॑ आजत् । बृह॒स्पति॑रनु॒मृश्या॑ व॒लस्या॒भ्रमि॑व॒ वात॒ आ च॑क्र॒ आ गाः ॥ अप ज्योतिषा तमो अन्तरिक्षादुद्नः शीपालमिव वात आजत् । बृहस्पतिरनुमृश्या वलस्याभ्रमिव वात आ चक्र आ गाः ॥

Bṛhaspati drove away the darkness from the firmament with light as the wind (blows) the Śīpālafrom the water; guessing (them to be there), he swept the Vala's cows together to himself as the wind (sweeps)the clouds.
