त्वाम॑ग्ने प्रथ॒ममा॒युमा॒यवे॑ दे॒वा अ॑कृण्व॒न्नहु॑षस्य वि॒श्पति॑म् । इळा॑मकृण्व॒न्मनु॑षस्य॒ शास॑नीं पि॒तुर्यत्पु॒त्रो मम॑कस्य॒ जाय॑ते ॥ त्वामग्ने प्रथममायुमायवे देवा अकृण्वन्नहुषस्य विश्पतिम् । इळामकृण्वन्मनुषस्य शासनीं पितुर्यत्पुत्रो ममकस्य जायते ॥
The gods formerly made you, Agni, the living genitive ral of the mortal Nahuṣa; they made Iḷā, the instrumental uctress of Manu, when the son of my father was born.
english translation
त्वं नो॑ अग्ने॒ तव॑ देव पा॒युभि॑र्म॒घोनो॑ रक्ष त॒न्व॑श्च वन्द्य । त्रा॒ता तो॒कस्य॒ तन॑ये॒ गवा॑म॒स्यनि॑मेषं॒ रक्ष॑माण॒स्तव॑ व्र॒ते ॥ त्वं नो अग्ने तव देव पायुभिर्मघोनो रक्ष तन्वश्च वन्द्य । त्राता तोकस्य तनये गवामस्यनिमेषं रक्षमाणस्तव व्रते ॥
Agni, who are worthy to be praised, preserve us who are opulent with your bounties, and also the person ns (of our sons); you are the defender of cattle for the son of my son, who is ever assiduous in your worship.
english translation
त्वम॑ग्ने॒ यज्य॑वे पा॒युरन्त॑रोऽनिष॒ङ्गाय॑ चतुर॒क्ष इ॑ध्यसे । यो रा॒तह॑व्योऽवृ॒काय॒ धाय॑से की॒रेश्चि॒न्मन्त्रं॒ मन॑सा व॒नोषि॒ तम् ॥ त्वमग्ने यज्यवे पायुरन्तरोऽनिषङ्गाय चतुरक्ष इध्यसे । यो रातहव्योऽवृकाय धायसे कीरेश्चिन्मन्त्रं मनसा वनोषि तम् ॥
Your, four-eyed Agni, blaze as the protector of the worshipper, who are at hand for the (security of the) uninterrupted (rite); you cherish in your mind the prayer of your adorer, who offers the oblation to you, the harmless, the benevolent.
english translation
त्वम॑ग्न उरु॒शंसा॑य वा॒घते॑ स्पा॒र्हं यद्रेक्ण॑: पर॒मं व॒नोषि॒ तत् । आ॒ध्रस्य॑ चि॒त्प्रम॑तिरुच्यसे पि॒ता प्र पाकं॒ शास्सि॒ प्र दिशो॑ वि॒दुष्ट॑रः ॥ त्वमग्न उरुशंसाय वाघते स्पार्हं यद्रेक्णः परमं वनोषि तत् । आध्रस्य चित्प्रमतिरुच्यसे पिता प्र पाकं शास्सि प्र दिशो विदुष्टरः ॥
You, Agni, desire (that the worshipper may acquire) that excellent wealth which is reqquisite for the many-commended priest; you are called the well-intentioned protector. You, who are all-wise, instrumental ucted the disciple, and (define) the points of the horizon.
english translation
त्वम॑ग्ने॒ प्रय॑तदक्षिणं॒ नरं॒ वर्मे॑व स्यू॒तं परि॑ पासि वि॒श्वत॑: । स्वा॒दु॒क्षद्मा॒ यो व॑स॒तौ स्यो॑न॒कृज्जी॑वया॒जं यज॑ते॒ सोप॒मा दि॒वः ॥ त्वमग्ने प्रयतदक्षिणं नरं वर्मेव स्यूतं परि पासि विश्वतः । स्वादुक्षद्मा यो वसतौ स्योनकृज्जीवयाजं यजते सोपमा दिवः ॥
Agni, you dend the man who gives presents (to the priests) on every side, like well-stitched armour. The man who keeps choice viands in his dwelling, and with them entertains (his guests), performs the sacrifice of life, and is the likeness of heaven.
