‘Eighty-eight thousand high-souled Snatakas depended upon him for their livelihood, sustained by his steadfast observance of excellent vows.’ ।। 4-65-16 ।।
एष वृद्धान अनाथांश च वयङ्गान पङ्गूंश च मानवान पुत्रवत पालयाम आस परजा धर्मेण चाभिभॊ ।। ४-६५-१७ ।।
‘This illustrious lord protected the aged and the helpless, the maimed and the blind, as if they were his own sons, and ruled his subjects with virtue and righteousness.’ ।। 4-65-17 ।।
‘Steadfast in morality and self-control, able to restrain his anger, bountiful, devoted to the Brahmanas, and truthful, this is the son of Pandu.’ ।। 4-65-18 ।।
न शक्यन्ते हय अस्य अगुणाः परसंख्यातुं नरेश्वर एष धर्मपरॊ नित्यम आनृशंस्यश च पाण्डवः ।। ४-६५-२० ।।
‘O lord of men, his virtues are beyond enumeration. Ever devoted to righteousness and never given to cruelty, this Pandava is endowed with perfect virtue.’ ।। 4-65-20 ।।
