एष शांतनवॊ भीष्मः सर्वेषां नः पितामहः राजश्रियावबद्धस तु दुर्यॊधन वशानुगः ॥ ४-५०-२१ ॥
'This is Bhīṣma, son of Śāntanu, the grandfather of us all. Though bound by royal duty, he follows Duryodhana's command.' ॥ 4-50-21 ॥
english translation
पश्चाद एष परयातव्यॊ न मे विघ्नकरॊ भवेत एतेन युध्यमानस्य यत्तः संयच्छ मे हयान ॥ ४-५०-२२ ॥
'This one must be fought later; let him not become an obstacle to me. While I am fighting with this (current opponent), carefully control my horses for me.' ॥ 4-50-22 ॥

ततॊ ऽभयवहद अव्यग्रॊ वैराटिः सव्यसाचिनम यत्रातिष्ठत कृपॊ राजन यॊत्स्यमानॊ धनंजयम ॥ ४-५०-२३ ॥
'Then the son of Virata, without anxiety, carried Savyasācin (Arjuna) to where Kṛpa stood, O king, ready to fight Dhanañjaya.' ॥ 4-50-23 ॥
