राजानं नात्र पश्यामि गाः समादाय गच्छति दक्षिणं मार्गम आस्थाय शङ्के जीव परायणः ।। ४-४८-११ ।।

'I suspect that, eager to save his life, he has fled by the southern road, driving the kine before him.' ।। 4-48-11 ।।

english translation

rAjAnaM nAtra pazyAmi gAH samAdAya gacchati dakSiNaM mArgama AsthAya zaGke jIva parAyaNaH || 4-48-11 ||

उत्सृज्यैतद रथानीकं गच्छ यत्र सुयॊधनः तत्रैव यॊत्स्ये वैराटे नास्ति युद्धं निरामिषम तं जित्वा विनिवर्तिष्ये गाः समादाय वै पुनः ।। ४-४८-१२ ।।

'Leave this array of car-warriors, and drive to the place where Suyodhana is. There, O son of Virata, will I engage in battle, for there the fight will not be in vain. Having overthrown him, I shall return, bringing back the kine.' ।। 4-48-12 ।।

utsRjyaitada rathAnIkaM gaccha yatra suyòdhanaH tatraiva yòtsye vairATe nAsti yuddhaM nirAmiSama taM jitvA vinivartiSye gAH samAdAya vai punaH || 4-48-12 ||

[वै] एवम उक्तः स वैराटिर हयान संयम्य यत्नतः नियम्य च ततॊ रश्मीन यत्र ते कुरुपुंगवाः अचॊदयत ततॊ वाहान यतॊ दुर्यॊधनस ततः ।। ४-४८-१३ ।।

'Vaisampayana continued: “Thus addressed, the son of Virata checked the steeds with firm skill, drawing them away from the place where those bulls among the Kurus stood, and urged them onward toward the spot where Duryodhana was.”' ।। 4-48-13 ।।

[vai] evama uktaH sa vairATira hayAna saMyamya yatnataH niyamya ca tatò razmIna yatra te kurupuMgavAH acòdayata tatò vAhAna yatò duryòdhanasa tataH || 4-48-13 ||

उत्सृज्य रथवंशं तु परयाते शवेतवाहने अभिप्रायं विदित्वास्य दरॊणॊ वचनम अब्रवीत ।। ४-४८-१४ ।।

'And as Arjuna moved away, leaving that dense array of chariots behind, Kripa, discerning his purpose, spoke to his comrades, saying—' ।। 4-48-14 ।।

utsRjya rathavaMzaM tu parayAte zavetavAhane abhiprAyaM viditvAsya daròNò vacanama abravIta || 4-48-14 ||

नैषॊ ऽनतरेण राजानं बीभत्सुः सथातुम इच्छति तस्य पार्ष्णिं गरहीष्यामॊ जवेनाभिप्रयास्यतः ।। ४-४८-१५ ।।

'This Vibhatsu will not rest until he stands face to face with the king. Let us swiftly strike at the flanks of the advancing hero.' ।। 4-48-15 ।।
