[वै] ततॊ दुर्यॊधनॊ राजा शरुत्वा तेषां वचस तदा चिरम अन्तर मना भूत्वा परत्युवाच सभा सदः ।। ४-२५-१ ।।
'Vaisampayana said: "Having heard the words of his spies, King Duryodhana fell into deep thought for some time. Then, turning to his courtiers, he said:"' ।। 4-25-1 ।।
'It is difficult to determine with certainty the course of events. Therefore, all of you must carefully consider where the sons of Pandu might have gone.' ।। 4-25-2 ।।
अस्य वर्षस्य शेषं चेद वयतीयुर इह पाण्डवाः निवृत्तसमयास ते हि सत्यव्रतपरायणाः ।। ४-२५-४ ।।
'What remains of the year is but a little. If the sons of Pandu succeed in passing this final stretch undiscovered—as steadfast as they are in their vow of truth—they will have fulfilled their pledge.' ।। 4-25-4 ।।
कषरन्त इव नागेन्द्राः सर्व आशीविषॊपमाः दुःखा भवेयुः संरब्धाः कौरवान परति ते धरुवम ।। ४-२५-५ ।।
'And when they return, they will be like mighty elephants in rut, with temporal juice streaming down, or like venomous serpents filled with deadly poison. Burning with wrath, they will doubtless bring fierce and terrible retribution upon the Kurus.' ।। 4-25-5 ।।
