यस्य जयातलनिर्घॊषात समकम्पन्त शत्रवः सत्रियॊ गीतस्वनं तस्य मुदिताः पर्युपासते ।। ४-१८-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'Alas, he whose mace-like arms once bore the scars of his bowstring’s strokes, now hides those very wrists beneath bracelets of conch-shells, weighed down by sorrow. Alas, that same Dhananjaya, whose bowstring’s twang and the clash of his leathern armguards once struck terror into every enemy, now spends his days delighting women with music and song.' ।। 4-18-12 ।।

english translation

yasya jayAtalanirghòSAta samakampanta zatravaH satriyò gItasvanaM tasya muditAH paryupAsate || 4-18-12 ||
