विहीनान सर्वकामेभ्यॊ दासभाववशं गतान धर्मपाशपरिक्षिप्तान अशक्तान इव विक्रमे ॥ २-७२-१६ ॥

'She cast her eyes upon the Pandavas, who were stripped of their wealth, kingdom, attire, and even their dignity, and were plunged into a state of bondage. Bound by the constraints of righteousness, they could not assert their strength.' ॥ 2-72-16 ॥

vihInAna sarvakAmebhyò dAsabhAvavazaM gatAna dharmapAzaparikSiptAna azaktAna iva vikrame ॥ 2-72-16 ॥

करुद्धाम अमर्षितां कृष्णां दुःखितां कुरुसंसदि दुर्यॊधनश च कर्णश च कटुकान्य अभ्यभाषताम ॥ २-७२-१७ ॥

'In the presence of the assembled kings, Duryodhana and Karna harshly addressed the distressed and enraged Krishna, who did not deserve such treatment. O monarch, all this seems to me to foretell dire and fearful consequences' ॥ 2-72-17 ॥

karuddhAma amarSitAM kRSNAM duHkhitAM kurusaMsadi duryòdhanaza ca karNaza ca kaTukAnya abhyabhASatAma ॥ 2-72-17 ॥

तस्याः कृपण चक्षुर भयां परदह्येतापि मेदिनी अपि शेषं भवेद अद्य पुत्राणां मम संजय ॥ २-७२-१८ ॥

'Dhritarashtra said, "O Sanjaya, the glances of the distressed daughter of Drupada could scorch the entire earth. Is it possible that even a single son of mine will survive?' ॥ 2-72-18 ॥

tasyAH kRpaNa cakSura bhayAM paradahyetApi medinI api zeSaM bhaveda adya putrANAM mama saMjaya ॥ 2-72-18 ॥

भारतानां सत्रियः सर्वा गान्धार्या सह संगताः पराक्रॊर्शन भैरवं तत्र दृष्ट्वा कृष्णां सभा गताम ॥ २-७२-१९ ॥

'The wives of the Bharatas, seeing the virtuous Krishna, the young and beautiful wife of the Pandavas, dragged into the court, joined Gandhari in a mournful and terrifying lament.' ॥ 2-72-19 ॥

bhAratAnAM satriyaH sarvA gAndhAryA saha saMgatAH parAkròrzana bhairavaM tatra dRSTvA kRSNAM sabhA gatAma ॥ 2-72-19 ॥

अग्निहॊत्राणि सायाह्ने न चाहूयन्त सर्वशः बराह्मणाः कुपिताश चासन दरौपद्याः परिकर्षणे ॥ २-७२-२० ॥

'Even now, my subjects and I weep daily over the past events. Enraged by the mistreatment of Draupadi, the Brahmanas collectively refrained from performing the evening Agnihotra ceremony.' ॥ 2-72-20 ॥
