'Vaisampayana said, 'Defeated at dice and after the Pandavas had gone into the forest, Dhritarashtra, O king, was overwhelmed with anxiety.'' ।। 2-72-1 ।।
'As he sat restlessly, sighing in grief, Sanjaya approached him and asked, 'O lord of the earth, having gained dominion over the entire realm and sent the sons of Pandu into exile, why do you still grieve so deeply?'' ।। 2-72-2 ।।
'Dhritarashtra said, "What reason is there not to grieve for those who must face in battle the formidable sons of Pandu, who are great warriors, fighting from mighty chariots and supported by powerful allies?"' ।। 2-72-4 ।।
'Sanjaya said, "O king, this great enmity is the direct result of your misguided actions, and it will inevitably lead to the destruction of the entire world."' ।। 2-72-5 ।।
