[व] वनं गतेषु पार्थेषु निर्जितेषु दुरॊदरे धृतराष्ट्रं महाराज तदा चिन्ता समाविशत ।। २-७२-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, 'Defeated at dice and after the Pandavas had gone into the forest, Dhritarashtra, O king, was overwhelmed with anxiety.'' ।। 2-72-1 ।।

english translation

[va] vanaM gateSu pArtheSu nirjiteSu duròdare dhRtarASTraM mahArAja tadA cintA samAvizata || 2-72-1 ||

तं चिन्तयानम आसीनं धृतराष्ट्रं जनेश्वरम निःश्वसन्तम अनेकाग्रम इति हॊवाच संजयः ।। २-७२-२ ।।

sanskrit

'As he sat restlessly, sighing in grief, Sanjaya approached him and asked, 'O lord of the earth, having gained dominion over the entire realm and sent the sons of Pandu into exile, why do you still grieve so deeply?'' ।। 2-72-2 ।।

taM cintayAnama AsInaM dhRtarASTraM janezvarama niHzvasantama anekAgrama iti hòvAca saMjayaH || 2-72-2 ||

'O King, having obtained the earth full of riches, And having exiled the Pandavas from the kingdom, Why do you grieve?' ।। 2-72-3 ।।

avApya vasusaMpUrNAM vasudhAM vasudhAdhipa paravrAjya pANDavAna rAjyAda rAjana kima anuzòcasi || 2-72-3 ||

[ध] अशॊच्यं तु कुतस तेषां येषां वैरं भविष्यति पाण्डवैर युद्धशौण्डैर हि मित्रवद्भिर महारथैः ।। २-७२-४ ।।

'Dhritarashtra said, "What reason is there not to grieve for those who must face in battle the formidable sons of Pandu, who are great warriors, fighting from mighty chariots and supported by powerful allies?"' ।। 2-72-4 ।।

english translation

[dha] azòcyaM tu kutasa teSAM yeSAM vairaM bhaviSyati pANDavaira yuddhazauNDaira hi mitravadbhira mahArathaiH || 2-72-4 ||

[स] तवेदं सुकृतं राजन महद वैरं भविष्यति विनाशः सर्वलॊकस्य सानुबन्धॊ भविष्यति ।। २-७२-५ ।।

'Sanjaya said, "O king, this great enmity is the direct result of your misguided actions, and it will inevitably lead to the destruction of the entire world."' ।। 2-72-5 ।।

[sa] tavedaM sukRtaM rAjana mahada vairaM bhaviSyati vinAzaH sarvalòkasya sAnubandhò bhaviSyati || 2-72-5 ||
