'There are said to be three who have no wealth: A slave, a student, and a woman without independence. You, fair lady, are the wife of a slave and thus his property. A slave-woman with no master is the property of a slave.' ।। 2-63-1 ।।

'We decree that this is now your proper duty. O princess, all the sons of Dhritarashtra are your masters now, not the sons of Pritha. Choose another husband, one who will not subject you to the indignity of being made a slave through gambling. It is well understood that women, particularly those in servitude, are not blameworthy if they act freely in selecting their husbands.' ।। 2-63-3 ।।
