धर्मे सथितॊ धर्मराजॊ महात्मा; सवयं चेदं कथयत्व इन्द्रकल्पः ईशॊ वा ते यद्य अनीशॊ ऽथ वैष; वाक्याद अस्य कषिप्रम एकं भजस्व ।। २-६२-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'Let the illustrious son of Dharma, ever steadfast in virtue and as exalted as Indra himself, declare whether he is not your lord. Based on his declaration, accept either the Pandavas or us without delay.' ।। 2-62-26 ।।

english translation

dharme sathitò dharmarAjò mahAtmA; savayaM cedaM kathayatva indrakalpaH Izò vA te yadya anIzò 'tha vaiSa; vAkyAda asya kaSiprama ekaM bhajasva || 2-62-26 ||

hk transliteration

सर्वे हीमे कौरवेयाः सभायां; दुःखान्तरे वर्तमानास तवैव न विब्रुवन्त्य आर्य सत्त्वा यथावत; पतींश च ते समवेक्ष्याल्प भाग्यान ।। २-६२-२७ ।।

sanskrit

'Indeed, all the Kauravas present in this assembly are floating in the ocean of thy distress. Endued with magnanimity, they are unable to answer thy question, looking at thy unfortunate husbands.' ।। 2-62-27 ।।

english translation

sarve hIme kauraveyAH sabhAyAM; duHkhAntare vartamAnAsa tavaiva na vibruvantya Arya sattvA yathAvata; patIMza ca te samavekSyAlpa bhAgyAna || 2-62-27 ||

[व] ततः सभ्याः कुरुराजस्य तत्र; वाक्यं सर्वे परशशंसुस तदॊच्चैः चेलावेधांश चापि चक्रुर नदन्तॊ; हाहेत्य आसीद अपि चैवात्र नादः सर्वे चासन पार्थिवाः परीतिमन्तः; कुरुश्रेष्ठं धार्मिकं पूजयन्तः ।। २-६२-२८ ।।

'Vaisampayana continued: On hearing these words of the Kuru king, all present in the assembly loudly applauded. They signaled their approval to one another with eye gestures and lip movements, and sounds of distress such as 'O!' and 'Alas!' were also heard from some. Duryodhana’s words, which delighted his supporters, brought immense satisfaction to the Kauravas present in the assembly.' ।। 2-62-28 ।।

english translation

[va] tataH sabhyAH kururAjasya tatra; vAkyaM sarve parazazaMsusa tadòccaiH celAvedhAMza cApi cakrura nadantò; hAhetya AsIda api caivAtra nAdaH sarve cAsana pArthivAH parItimantaH; kuruzreSThaM dhArmikaM pUjayantaH || 2-62-28 ||

युधिष्ठिरं च ते सर्वे समुदैक्षन्त पार्थिवाः किं नु वक्ष्यति धर्मज्ञ इति साची कृताननाः ।। २-६२-२९ ।।

'And the kings, with faces turned sideways, looked upon Yudhishthira conversant with the rules of morality, curious to hear what he would say.' ।। 2-62-29 ।।

english translation

yudhiSThiraM ca te sarve samudaikSanta pArthivAH kiM nu vakSyati dharmajJa iti sAcI kRtAnanAH || 2-62-29 ||

hk transliteration

किं नु वक्ष्यति बीभत्सुर अजितॊ युधि पाण्डवः भीमसेनॊ यमौ चेति भृशं कौतूहलान्विताः ।। २-६२-३० ।।

sanskrit

'And every one present in that assembly became curious to hear what Arjuna, the son of Pandu never defeated in battle, and what Bhimasena, and what the twins also would say.' ।। 2-62-30 ।।

english translation

kiM nu vakSyati bIbhatsura ajitò yudhi pANDavaH bhImasenò yamau ceti bhRzaM kautUhalAnvitAH || 2-62-30 ||
