'Vaisampayana said: "Intoxicated with pride, the son of Dhritarashtra said, 'Fie on Kshatta!' He then looked at the Pratikamin present and, in the midst of all the venerable elders, commanded.' ।। 2-60-1 ।।
tavaM parAtikAmina daraupadIma Anayasva; na te bhayaM vidyate pANDavebhyaH kaSattA haya ayaM vivadatya eva bhIrura; na cAsmAkaM vRddhikAmaH sadaiva || 2-60-2 ||
एवम उक्तः परातिकामी ससूतः; परायाच छीघ्रं राजवचॊ निशम्य परविश्य च शवेव स सिंहगॊष्ठं; समासदन महिषीं पाण्डवानाम ।। २-६०-३ ।।
'Vaisampayana continued: "Thus commanded, the Pratikamin, of the Suta caste, quickly set out upon hearing the king's words. Entering the abode of the Pandavas like a dog entering a lion's den, he approached the queen of the Pandavas."' ।। 2-60-3 ।।
'He said, Yudhishthira, overwhelmed by the dice game, was inebriated with its outcome. Duryodhana, having defeated Draupadi, led her into the palace of Dhritarashtra. "I am bringing you to fulfill my duty," he said, "as part of the ritual act."' ।। 2-60-4 ।।
[द] कथं तव एवं वदसि परातिकामिन; कॊ वै दीव्येद भार्ययया राजपुत्रः मूढॊ राजा दयूतमदेन मत्त; आहॊ नान्यत कैतवम अस्य किं चित ।। २-६०-५ ।।
'Draupadi said, "Why do you speak thus, O Pratikamin? What prince would stake his wife in a game? The king was indeed intoxicated by the dice. Otherwise, could he not have found something else to stake?"' ।। 2-60-5 ।।
